Man, ppl are so right up Huberdeaus arse they can't see the good things he's doing. The 1st goal could have just as easily been his instead of colemans,
He has an absolutely insane dish to toffoli from behind the net cross crease and Toffoli wasn't able to finish it as it deflected off a stick. Net was wide open.
He made several great forechecking plays all night.
.I don't know what else to say. No it's not been great for him. But let's not act like he isn't doing anything. In fact he's doing a lot of good with no reward.
I think you can lump his season into the cursed season that has been Calgary all year. Too many posts, too many 1 goal losses, bad in OT. And no puckluck for Huberdeau.
It's all the same thing. And he's not the primary cause of it.

The point is they deemed Valimaki non-expendable
They treated him like a blue chipper
Then because he didn't click at nhl camp (despite thriving at every other level) coming out of his lengthy injury they let him slip through the cracks over guys far less proven
The same thing very nearly happened with Kylington just one year earlier

One thing thay does drive me crazy with this team is I feel like the only player that attacks the middle of the ice without the puck in OT is Huberdeau.
That's how you create space but none of the Flames do it. When somebody has the puck the other two guys tend to peel off instead of driving the net and taking dmen with you.
Would have been nice if one of those Weegar/Lindholm passes had actually connected to Huberdeau on those opportunities. And it would be even better if more people would try it.

Only to trade that guy to the same team at the deadline.

It's always fun until you lose, and subsequently forget any hope of the playoffs.
It's been a rough year. That was the cherry on the cake. Work their asses off and still lose due to bad luck.
It sucks. I'm tired and bored of it. I deserve better than having my hopes crushed every night.

Well, in fairness to the players, they don’t practice 3 on 3

Good game by the Flames despite the loss. Fought back from an early deficit. I think a 9-3 record with wins over wpg and nashville probably still gets them in. Win the next two and I think they have a realistic shot at it.
Can’t have anymore missteps though.

Yeah. Chose Mackey and it was all for naught in the end
Mainly because Sutter didn't like JV's maturity. But the problem is he values that over immense talent. But talent when harnessed is what will win you games
This is a team that needs to be keeping spots available for kids and be integrating them much less sheepishly
The kids are what saved this team from collapsing a month or two ago

The rule?
When there is zero interference, it’s a good goal.

Head to head? There was much discussion of two games against the Jets (4 points) left on the schedule, it was all over the place here. I guess I could try to find an example for you?
I don't want to post the "am I taking crazy pills" meme, but "staying close to the Jets because we have 2 games against them and could get into the playoffs that way" has been front and centre for a few weeks now.
Edit: I don't mind the old incorrect double down once and awhile

Okay so hear me out - if the Flames beat Winnipeg in their one remaining match (big if) then as of today we're only 2 points out of the 8th and final playoff. This is not out of reach at all.
It's not going to be easy but considering how many games they've outplayed their opponents and lost (like tonight) and also being one of the worst teams in NHL history after regulation, it's impressive they still have a genuine shot at it.
I would say it basically will come down to whether the Flames or Jets can beat more teams below them in the standings. Seattle also might plummet further to make things interesting.

Vali wasn't even good in the AHL...they chose Mackey because he made less money. Even the Yotes gave Vali a paycut and a one year deal...it's not like they locked him up. It remains to be seen how he handles actual pressure of a team trying to win games. Their late season run has been the absolute worst thing for them. Basically ruined their Bedard odds they have been working on for years.

The Coyotes have been hot lately and have beaten a number of good teams.

I watched him last year and this year in training camp. It was because he was horrible.

They play Seattle three more times and Winnipeg once so it would be really nice if they could get even hotter.

Blue paint doesn't actually matter, but he was in the crease when Hintz got his hands into the mask.
"Goals should be disallowed only if: (1) an attacking player, either by his positioning or by contact, impairs the goalkeeper’s ability to move freely within his crease or defend his goal; or (2) an attacking player initiates intentional or deliberate contact with a goalkeeper, inside or outside of his goal crease. Incidental contact with a goalkeeper will be permitted, and resulting goals allowed, when such contact is initiated outside of the goal crease, provided the attacking player has made a reasonable effort to avoid such contact."

I don't read all threads but all I've seen is there was only one more game against the Jets.

Is this still a thing? I wouldn't worry about this until he's an NHLer on a real NHL team. If it wasn't for his 1st round pedigree he would've been sent to the ECHL last year.
