Yeah...really they need a 7 game win streak to have any chance.

Game / Date / Team
69 / March 16 / @VGK - Win
70 / March 18 / DAL - Win
71 / March 20 / @LAK - Loss
72 / March 21 / @ANA - Win
73/ March 23 / VGK - Loss
74 / March 25 / SJS - Win
75 / March 28 / LAK - Win
76 / March 31 / @VAN - Win
77 / April 2 / ANA - Win
78 / April 4 / CHI - Win
79 / April 5 / @WPG - Win
80 / April 8 / @VAN - Win

81 / April 10 / NSH - Loss
82 / April 12 / SJS - Win

11 - 3

To me that bolded stretch is the key. You need to win those 7 games - all of which are winnable games. Then you need to go 4-3 in the other 7 games.

Split the 2 games against Vegas. Split the 2 games against LA. Split the NSH/WPG games. Beat Dallas.

And then you need to beat Anaheim x2, San Jose x2, Vancouver x 2, and Chicago.

That gets you to 96 points and I think with 96 points you will probably be pretty safe.

But at this point the only chance they have is with a long winning streak, and you need to beat those teams below you. It's that simple.

I don't think you understand this thread. This is the Optimistic Thread, we choose to believe we are not setting ourselves up for disappointment and we certainly don't want to hear about it.

Exactly! If people want to be supposed "realist", create a thread called may be like you know, "Eternal Playoff Realist" ? So those can post in there instead? And I can avoid reading those because I can totally not go in there.

One more below average game from Markstrom, then maybe Sutter will get desperate enough to turn to Wolf to save the season.

I just don't get how this team is so awful at OT hockey....You can talk about not having the puck possession or game breaking guys, but the players scoring on us aren't typically those guys either. Total lack of swagger from this group.

Win tomorrow and they are 4-1-1 in their last 6. I dont care who they lose too as long as they keep the pace that is required.

Any 7 in a row would do. I'm thinking it will be the final 7 games to inflict maximum brain damage around here.

Just need one extended run going pedal to the metal and they can still do it

They need to stop feeling sorry for themselves about their fortunes to this point and quit pouting over the coach's tough attitude and just play up to the level they are capable of

They've left so much in the tank that they could go on a crazy run if they just channeled their A games for a couple dozen games

In the words of Shia.. just f-n do it

I want the Preds to beat the Jets tomorrow. I’m willing to take the chance of their games in hand, as they have a much harder schedule than the Jets down the stretch.

I agree. Another loss might help break the Jets mentally, which would be beneficial.

It's actually pretty absurd how tough the Preds schedule is in relation to the Flames or Winnipeg.

But yes, the WPG loss is likely better for us. The Preds also did a bit of a sell off. I don't see them doing very well down the stretch with their current roster and their strength of competition. Ekholm and Jeannot are fairly large losses.

It's weird for the Jets but Ehlers missed most of the season and they far exceeded expectations and when he came back they tanked. That's kind of the opposite of what you would have expected.

4-1-1 in the last six. Keep up this pace and they are in. If they make the playoffs they are going to be on a tear and a nightmare to play against.

I think the Wpg and Nashville games will probably decide if they make it or not. Should come down to the final week.

3 points back of the Jets and 7 back from the Kraken. This is fun!

Well, if nothing else, last night's bump in Sin City has provided a bit of cheer for us. Hoping that there's more to cheer about soon! (I just .... can't ... cheer for a draft pick.)
