Costco will work with municipalities to revise setbacks, drive aisles in the parking lot; things like that. Aesthetically, they always look the same though, and Costco will never ever compromise its branding.

Walmart does. They had all sorts of influence over the Royal Oak Center.

How so? That Wal-Mart looks like pretty much any other Wal-Mart as far as I can see. Genuinely curious.

I'm not sure if rotten42 is trying to say "Walmart gets their way and dictates architectural design of their stores to the developers", or "Walmart compromises their branding and lets the developers dictate the architecture"...
Amusingly I did some work at Royal Oak; not at the Walmart though. The other buildings on the site have essentially the same architectural design, while the Walmart is a Walmart.

I'm trying to remember where this business even is...
Is it the hole-in-the-wall in the Fina Building, right next to the +15 bridge to the Nexen Bldg.?

Thanks. For a time I bounced around offices in First Alberta Place and the Nexen Building, and passed by that place often, but I never actually set foot in it; it was always super-busy at lunchtime, ~20 years ago...

Few things:
Green line.
DCD now has access to three power grids. This is in anticipation of AWS taking over some of the vacant office space and creating data centers. Also MS is very interested in setting up an Azure region here but their power requirements are insane, which this should help in terms of delivering the power.

I've never heard of AWS or MS contemplating datacenters in downtown Calgary. I know there are some underutilized old school datacenters in the office buildings but I've always heard AWS is building on cheaper land just outside the city. Converting existing office space and paying downtown rates doesn't seem very Amazon to me.
Calgary getting an Azure region is even unlikely to me. Vancouver doesn't even have one, they just have in ingress of sorts.

I knew about AWS but I didn't think it was going downtown, but now I can't find any info about the location

Amazon will want to have three zones eventually in Calgary.
MSFT is definitely interested in an Alberta region.

That area of downtown is completely dead. It's weird to see the new food court in the Nexen building completely shuttered. Whereas Brookfield Place / Suncor / Fifth Ave Place is jam packed at lunch time. It's weird to see the contrast.

I don't think the likes of Amazon, Microsoft, and Google will ever announced publically where their exact data center locations would be. Isn't this one way to secure a datacenter - not telling people where the buildings are so they can't physcially damage them?

In their remaining 11 games, Arsenal could potentially lose one and tie one, finishing on 94 points and still lose out on the league to City.
That would make you happy, but it wouldn’t come close to being a collapse.
City have a much stronger and deeper squad.
Also, you were quite the fan of strength of schedule when Arsenal were doing well at the beginning of the season. Long before we began talking about strength of schedule over on FoI.
Using your reckoning, the Flames have been collapsing all season…
You know what I mean!

During the pandemic the Nexen building was completely abandoned as their main tenant - Nexen moved into the Bow Tower so its funny we still call it the Nexen building.
Not sure if that is still the case today but it was one of the main examples of a full modern office tower being completely empty.
