So Felix was up 3-1 in the tie-break, then Paul was up 6-3, now it's 6-6

Holy doodle, Felix saves six match points and wins it 3-6 6-3 7-6. I repeat, FAA saves 6 match points. Where's the IKEA start the car gif?

On the one hand, Felix will need to raise his level big time against Carlitos. On the other hand, he's playing with house money after tonight's match. The other thing to consider is that Felix and Shapo are still alive in doubles. Will he play two matches on Wednesday?
Edit: My bad, Felix doesn't play Carlitos until Thursday, so should be no problem playing doubles on Wednesday.

I was exhausted last night and had to pack it in early in the 2nd set. Pleasantly surprised that Felix won as it looked like Paul was going to roll over him at the time I turned it off. Paul's playing very good tennis right now so good on Felix for battling his way through.

Felix is 3-0 against Alcaraz lifetime, right now he has the mental advantage over him.

That was a clutch match for Felix.
Down 0-40 in the third set when serving at 5-6, he came up with 5 straight points to force a tiebreaker.
Then again, down 3-6 in the tiebreaker he came up with another 5 straight points to win 8-6.
It's nice to see him being able to rely on his serve when he needed it.

Felix did not have anything close to his A game last night, and the fact that he found a way to win the match is truly impressive on such a stage.
Winning when you're on is one thing, but finding ways to win when you're not is what makes you a legitimate grand slam threat on tour.
I think it's safe to say that Felix is starting to figure this out.

Not much to work with, but Felix is 3-0 lifetime against Carlitos. That's certainly a bit of a mental edge for the Canadian going into such a big match. I would imagine there aren't more than a handful of other players on tour with even a .500 record against him on tour at this point.

By the way, I was reading last night that Shapo is considering adding former Canadian (now Brit) Greg Rusedski to his team. Stephanie Myles is on the scene at IW...
Everyone seems to have an opinion on the state of Denis Shapovalov’s career these days.
Most of those opinions, of course, are mean-spirited, destructive rather than constructive in intent. It’s not as though the 23-year-old Canadian doesn’t KNOW he’s going through a rough patch in his career.
To that end, Open Court had gotten wind that Greg Rusedski, the Canadian-turned-Brit who reached No. 4 in the world, might be in the mix to come in as a consultant – an extra pair of eyes to see if he can help his fellow lefty turn it around.

That's a silly thing to write. "Guys, he knows he's playing poorly, you don't have to tell him". Well, we don't have to tell Felix when he's playing well, either. People talk about a sport, and no one is celebrating Denis being bad at it - that's not the intent behind discussions about what's gone wrong with his progression as a tennis player or what the weaknesses are in his game, any more than talking about a different player's strengths are just fawning.
Tennis discourse kind of sucks sometimes, for a variety of reasons.

As long as he doesn't decide he's going to move to Britain and represent their flag, it can't hurt for Shapo to get another opinion on what's ailing his game.
