it's actually comforting. Even a sputtering Flames team with a number of issues is still in a better position than those teams ... just wait until they figure it out.

The Flames exchanged two Elite scorers for past their Prime players on huge contracts and are significantly worse than last year. I don't find it that comforting that they are doing slightly better than some teams that aren't in their division. Right now it looks like the old boys club is back and the most we can hope for is a first round bounce.....again.

As opposed to the playoff powerhouse we were with Gaudreau and Tkachuk

Huberdeau is a few months older than Johnny and is hardly past his prime, neither is Weegar. We didn’t exchange Johnny as he left as a FA for anybody and Tkachuk wasn’t wanting to be here so good riddance and the return was more than most expected, quite a bit more.

Nostradamus, where were your elite predictions for all of this in August?

So what happened on that car ride. Gaudreau wife say she hated Calgary or something? This explains nothing!!

He passed by the blue ring and decided that no amount of money was worth having to see that ugly turd time and again.

Lol...so it was his wife after all?

Quote:
“I don’t even think it was Johnny. I don’t think Johnny had any issue coming back. I think he wanted to come back,” Seravalli said. “In fact, not to relitigate this again, but the Flames the day before thought that he was coming back. There was an afternoon sort of buzz and spring in everyone’s step as the hours dragged on before free agency where they thought they were getting him back. They had negotiated the contract, gotten to where everyone was comfortable with numbers, and then Johnny Gaudreau went on a car ride with his wife and then called the Flames back tearfully and said, ‘sorry, I can’t do this’.”

I hate this from Seravalli. Doesn't give any fresh insight and will only reinforce those who just wanted to blame the wife anyway.

Based on how Gaudreau is playing it might be for the best anyway

“I didn’t say it was because of her just reporting the facts. He went on a drive and she was in the car”

Gives him snake deniability and appeals to the neanderthals that want to blame her anyway. Real class guy

The interesting thought experiment is if Gaudreau stayed and Tkachuk still wanted out then I wonder what direction Tre would have gone with. Maybe for Necas or something.
