Not only that but he is always injured. This is a clear downgrade at QB. Forget Rodgers you could have kept Carr.
McDaneils will be back in New England in no time.

It's easy to say from afar that you know what was going on with the Raiders but Carr just wasn't a good fit with McDaniels. Under Gruden Carr was given full reign to change plays at the line of scrimmage and he did it all the time and it was successful for that version of the WCO. McDaniels is an OC that doesn't run wants the plays he calls run by the QB and they had issues when Carr saw something on the field he didn't like and changed the play. Apparently this was an issue that festered between the coach and player. Jimmy will run the plays McDaniels calls in like a good Patriots soldier and he's probably a better fit for the Patriots dink and dunk style of offense. They just added Jacobi Meyers today and I wouldn't be surprised if Renfrow is traded as he's doing the Patriots thing for better or worse.

What is the success rate of the Patriot assistants?
Romeo Crennell
Charlie Weiss (I think he went to college)
Bill O'Brien
Eric Mangini
Matt Patricia
Josh McDaneils 1 and 2
Joe Judge
Awful list of coaches. The Patriot way seems to work only when Bill is running things.

Hurricane Josh loves to leave destruction in his wake. Trading Renfro would be silly, he’s a great fit for the tiny slot guy. Jimmy G feels like a stopgap signing and I agree with you that they’ll draft a QBOTF. I hope for your sake it’s not Richardson but Josh did trade back into the first for Tebow so anything is possible.

My hunch is that they will go BPA with the 7th pick and draft Hooker in the 2nd round if he's available at 38. Or trade up from 38 to pick him. I'm not overly confident in the new regime but as a Raiders fan all you can do is sit back and hope for the best and expect the worst.

Hooker is also 25 years old, which is pretty old to be a developmental QB.

Someone will probably draft Hooker at the end of R1 just for the fifth year option.

Now just imagine he makes the Jets jump through all these hoops just to refuse to go there anyway lol.

He's going to NY but he's just trying to stretch this as many days as possible to keep everyone on their toes and himself front and center. Ideally a GM would be making personnel decisions in free agency but the Jets seem totally fine letting a guy that's not even committed to joining them, run their free agency period. Kind of embarrassing IMO but the Jets gonna be the Jets.

Giants turned Toney into Waller. Not bad.

Josh simply cannot help himself. It’s nice to see that he’s learned from his experiences

A lot of Raiders fans are pretty happy including me. Waller's not a guy that will play through pain and hasn't done much since 2020. Wasn't worth the money they were paying him.

Eh, I'm all for piling on the Raiders, but this isn't an awful trade. Since they are ride or die with Jimmy they need at least a good defense, realistically an elite defense, to have any shot. Jimmy as a game manager can work, expecting Jimmy to do any lifting at all is asking for trouble. So freeing up cap space for that and getting a pick isn't a bad move.

yeah I don't think it's a bad trade for the Raiders in isolation ... getting a 3rd for a soon-to-be 31 year old TE with injury problems is fine.
It's just that we all know how this story is going to end. McDaniels guts the roster, loses, is fired, goes back to Papa Bill. Hard to feel bad for the Raiders though, they knew exactly what they'd be getting with McDaniels.

The reality is that that Meyer's contract essentially replaces Waller's. All three of Meyers, Renfrow, and Adams can line up in the slot or wide and this is a very good draft for TE's so this is probably better than hoping Waller can take more time away from his rap career to be around at training camp and on the field on Sundays.

Trade for Rodgers, sign him and make half an effort to sign all those players.
“Sorry, Aaron. None of those guys want to play with you because you’re an *******.”
