I was living in an apartment building at the time and our place lead out to the courtyard. I had forgotten I was a few minutes behind live play and heard a bunch of cheering coming from other suites. Then saw the HR a few minutes later and thought that's what the cheering was for.

Problem is there's many umpires like this in MLB, the only difference is they're more skilled at hiding their calls to influence and manage games. Hence why they made it as far as MLB.
