There's a fix for that problem, move east of your work.

I'm all for the permanent standard time. With our longitude, the sun is at its peak at around 1230 on standard time or 130 on daylight time.

Permanent daylight time sounds great in summer with those evenings with sun past 9, but in winter not having the sun rise until after 9am on a regular basis would be a killer. Imagine the folks with SAD having that hit harder having to get up, start day, etc. in pitch black for longer?

Also, if all the western US and BC go to permanent daylight time we are still on a different schedule, so what's the problem to stay different? I'd get it more if permanent daylight time put us on same time as California and such

I can adapt to a shift in an hour two times a year. It's not that big a deal.

It's trying to get my kids to make the shift. They get up when they get up and get tired when they get tired, and it's hard to rationalize the need to do something when their body tells them otherwise. It is a full week process to get them to change their internal clocks. That's the only really annoying thing to me.

We can solve the debate on standard time vs permanent DST by just splitting the difference and going with 30 minutes. I prefer the extra evening sun vs the morning sun but 30 minutes either way seems like a good compromise.

I like having the same argument twice a year, it reminds me that some memory loss is not a bad thing.

What’s really ####ing stupid is that we change this early. We shouldn’t be moving clocks for another month.

do people complain this much when they go on vacation and it's a different time zone?

i guess i'm lucky - it doesn't really affect me at all. it takes our kids a couple days to adapt to the time change, but they just go with the flow

That’s never struck me as a good argument. Vacation is a whole different game. On vacation you think “I could live here, it’s amazing!” But you’re not dealing with any of the usual nuisances and things. So yeah, the time change is easy to overcome, because you’re on vacation!

How does it work if you are a nurse working the night shift, and suddenly the clock jumps up an hour. Do you work 11 hours and get paid for 12 but automatically get conscripted for Fall back. Or do you just have 1 outlier shift that's 11 hours. It is accounted for in the AHS CBA.

I woke up at 1 because something from work was disturbing my sleep at 1:30AM...by the time I sorted it out and put my mind at ease is was 3:30. I guess I put in for 2 hours...kidding of course but I don't think my employment agreement covers this.

You get paid for 12 even if you work 13 in the fall. People who worked last night only worked 11 but got paid for 12. It all comes out even in the end.

Eff that. I love it switching it now. To me, the switch signals to me that winter is almost done.

Only amateurs lose an hour of sleep. I lose an hour of awake instead. Sleep in mother fers. It’s Sunday.
