I'm generally quite happy with the episode although I can understand where people could nitpick it to death.
As a proud owner of all the Nitpicker's Guides to Trek (bought from Apple Books at Brentwood Mall) as a kid, I think I've grown out of that phase.
Tha said, why the hell does this random changling have the exact same bucket design as Odo? Wasn't that just a random bucket he got from the Cardassian or Bajorans that found and took care of him early on? It's not like all changlings have the same buckets as some cultural thing unless it was found with him like Superman's costume.

The show is flawed but is the best Trek since the end of DS9. Fight me
Spoiler!
The nebula is not a nebula, it's a Farpoint station with a cute litter of puppies
Strange New World is 87,988% better than whatever the hell this crap is.
This is like....something that someone who wants to appear to be 'Streets Ahead' would make to try and convince other people that they are, indeed, 'Streets Ahead.'
Completely oblivious to the fact that the term 'Streets Ahead' is made up, doesnt mean anything and identifies anyone using it as a complete rube.
"Take a deep breath and hold it" is pretty much my advice for whoever conceived, wrote, produced and directed this awful, awful crap.

I'm actually a TOS fan first and foremost and I'm not sold on SNW. I think it's because Mrs. John Stamos really ruins the show for me every episode with her irritating mannerisms and space botox and she has nothing on Majel Barret's #1. I'm less irritated with Picard S3 and look forward to seeing this every week while I never could finish S1 of SNW.

I've become a fan of the showrunner of Picard S3 (Terry Matalas - whom the planet M'Talas was named for as the worst place in the universe back in Voyager days) whereas I still don't trust Akiva Goldsman and Henry Alonso Myers who are the showrunners of SNW based on the garbage they've done in the past. Also, SNW has Jeff Russo as the composer who is universally one of my most hated composers of all time. I really hate that guy's music and it makes my ears bleed.
Plus Terry Matalas (who also did the 12 Monkeys show) does a podcast every episode and in his room he's got Aliens/Indiana Jones trading cards, a Back to the Future plutonium case prop, and two Unicron toys from The Transformers. That's all the creds I need to know that he's my kind of people.
Holy hell...that episode was actually straight awful.
I was looking for a Star Trek meme saying "good enough" as it's not awful. But I only found this clip which corroborates your point of view at how downhill the quality has gotten. I'm still going to look forward to and watch every episode of S3 though. Star Trek is about optimism! I have optimism!

1. Bridge design is fantastic. One of the best sets in all of Star Trek merging vintage with modern. If the Abrams Enterprise had this bridge (instead of their 2000s Apple Store type thing) it would have made those movies so much better.
2. Hello Nurse! (Chapel)
3. Got used to Ethan Peck as Spock, he's great and the Peck family has that acting gravitas that fits well for Spock. I like how he makes an effort to say "senSORES"
4. Anson Mount is not quite as standout as Jeffrey Hunter but he's good when they don't give him Johnny Bravo hair that looks ridiculous
5. Jeff Russo is wrong for music in everything he's ever done
6. Rebecca Romjin as #1 makes me turn off the TV or skip every scene she is in, she just irritates me for some reason and ruins the show. I secrely hope her character is written out
7. The rest of the cast is okay, I know what happens to Hemmer but I haven't gotten to the last 3rd of the season
8. NCC-1701 is a bit janky in its design, didn't quite hit the mark in mixing vintage with modern
9. There's still a little too much unprofessional un-Starfleet banter on the bridge but I can't claim Picard S3 isn't awful at this either with all the senior officers shouting at each other like children while the young crew looks on in horror

Jeffrey Hunter had literally one pilot episode. You really ought to give Mount a shot; his Pike is a great leader. Super charismatic, supportive, inspiring.

I admittedly don't really care much for his work, as I find it very boring, but all he's done for SNW is the theme music. I quite like the closing credits music:

Honestly this seems pretty irrational. Less of an issue with her, more of an issue with you.

Sure, it's casual, but not entirely unprofessional. By contrast to Picard, they don't yell at each other and are respectful. If Pike raises his voice you know someone done ####ed up.

For those still on the fence, even Red Letter Media which has had nothing but hilarious vitriol for all of new trek (even going as far as not reviewing SNW) - are getting on board with positivity for S3. It's the mindset of how you watch. I'm still going to hate some parts of this (Raffi) but this is actually good.
Caught up to episode 4 of Picard and the more I think about the more it makes me think of Star Trek V: The Final Frontier. It's a bunch of nonsense punctuated by a few excellent scenes.
