Inside Man has a great soundtrack, I love the version of Chaiyya Chaiyya that plays in the opening credits:

Guardians is a funny one for me. Love the songs while watching the movie, but would never just listen to any of them.

I find this with a lot of songs in movies, where the scene seems to make the song better than what it really is.

I was thinking about iconic songs sounds; ones that I might write here and you would know it. That advertising jingle for example…you hear the sound, you know what it is.

For soundtracks, is there one with more than Star Wars original? The trumpets at the start of the scrolling storyboard, darth Vader, the credits etc.

Obviously bond theme. Indiana jones theme. Jaws theme. So not pop hits, but that little ear worm.

Donnie Darko

An obscure one would be Phantom of the Paradise but you probably had to have grown up in the mid 70's in Winnipeg to have ever seen it. In reality, the soundtrack probably doesn't holp up.

I watched Phantom of the Paradise for the first time a couple of years ago and let me tell you it holds up! It's amazing, a great great film.

When I think of soundtracks to listen to I think of ones with original music, or different takes of popular songs (i.e Kubo and the Two Strings's cover of While My Guitar Gently Weeps is great), so I don't usually think of something like GotG where it's just good use of existing songs.

Scores - Koyaanisqatsi is both my favourite film and soundtrack. It's amazing. I loved It Follows but haven't listened to it in a long time. Been listening to Under the Skin recently.

Soundtrack compilation - Trainspotting is a classic. I loved Space Jam and the South Park soundtracks as a teenager. Also 2001 is a great compilation of classical pieces. Finally, not a good film but I love the soundtrack for The Million Dollar Hotel.

that's fair; for the movie it works terrifically well... I occasionally listen to it, but not super often... the Pulp Fiction one is definitely one that i've listened to a lot more, but it was already listed...

For scores, one of my fav podcasts is The Soundtrack Show - host works on sound production for some Star Wars stuff, Willow, etc

The Harry Potter theme jingle is right up there too.

John Williams is a master of this, the GOAT, one might say.
