Pronman's take on But is way out of left field. Don't think I've seen anyone else even have him in the Top 20. His scouting report basically boils down to "doesn't excel at anything, but is six-foot-five."

Carlsson had almost 2 points per game LAST year in the J20 league (27 points in 14 games)!!! This year, being too good for the junior league, he’s playing in the SHL at the age of 18, and leading all players under-20 in that league in points, with 25 points in 43 games- ahead of names like Filip Bystedt, Marco Kasper, Lucas Forsell, Simon Robertsson, Victor Stjernborg, and Victor Sjoholm.

From what I have read about Dvorsky is that he has some really elite talent, but he floats a lot. A really high risk, high reward type of player, if going pro can motivate him. He has the markings of a player that might fall in the draft, and some team has a chance to strike gold.

Zary lost some valuable development time but I think he's trending pretty good, and unless I'm missing something we had no shot at Mercer anyway.
we had a shot. He was the 18th pick. The flames could have traded up one spot if they identified the value. Looking at it now, I would trade the cost to move up one spot, poirier and zary to get mercer.

Nice break down of the player. Key points, he's a play driver. Goes to the middle of the ice. Has insane vision.
Carlson would be a massive get. He has so many star center qualities: Size, two way play, play making, puck protection, handles, passing, high IQ. Someone is getting a stud with him.

And yeah, if the Flames pick where they're supposed to oick. My choice is Yager or Sandin-Pelikka. Asterix pelikka because he's one of 2 d men in the top half of the 1st round so he probably gets a 5 to 10 spot jump up the board.

Fantilli's been tearing up the NCAA at 18 after tearing up the USHL at 17 ... I see no way he doesn't immediately go pro. Hard to think he could be more NHL ready and he'd probably be a lock at 1 in most other classes.

I'd say any of the top 4. But....Michkov is inked in Russia until 2026. Fantilli is a NCAA player so who knows if he's keen on signing yet.
So Leo Carlsson is my pick. I believe he could immediately replace Backlund at the 3c slot.
And the risk with Michkov is also what happens in 2026. Will Russia make a point of keeping him there. He's the best Russian prospect since AO and Malkin and has the potential to change a franchise.
But there is risk there, and a high probability that whatever GM takes him, won't actually benefit from him being on their team. They will be gone by the time he comes over.
I have no idea where he goes, but I'm going to guess around 7 or 8.

Pronman always has a few opinions that aren't shared in both directions. This year he is way higher on But and Danielson than most (and Reinbacher to a lesser extent). He is also way lower on Cristall, Benson and Sale than most of the other rankings I follow.
I do appreciate when rankings diverge from the "consensus". Pronman and Button both tend to have more divergent opinions than the others. Sometimes they are right, sometimes they aren't.
