I don't think those weapons are going to Ukraine; it looks like way too many tanks and its far too early (the US isn't sending tanks out of their own stocks, so they have to be produced still). Not to mention they're painted for desert warfare.
I think they're US weapons for their own troops that are (or were) taking part in military exercises in Poland. Given that they're all facing away from the port, I'd assume it's a brigade getting rotated out of Poland (could be wrong on that though).

Or they sent far more earlier than was being revealed. It's war. I don't think they are straight up telling the world when and where they are sending their equipment and how long it will take to get there, training time, etc... its all fog of war. Of course they want them to land on the battlefield with as little knowledge by the enemy as possible.
I also don't think they were worried about putting some new paint jobs on them.

They haven't done that so far. The funding to pay for it is all public, so they do telegraph what they're sending to a large extent. They said they'd send 31 M1s and they'd take months to years to arrive because they had to be procured. I don't they'd go from that to sending several dozen overnight.
There are lots of US troops in Europe and they bring their equipment with them. This looks like standard US troop rotations/redeployment. Not sure how credible this account is, but it says the same:

^^^ Yeah I'm not saying I'm right or you're (or they) are wrong. Just that, when it comes to the actual timing of arrival of the reinforcements, I wouldn't take anything anyone says with much truth attached.
The announcement of the funding, and what they will be sending isn't really the same. They obviously want to show publicly that they are being supported. But they can say one thing while doing another. I would really find it surprising if the equipment doesn't start landing quite a while before the timelines they've been talking about.

I won't post the video. It's not hard to find & is pure savagery. This man is a hero and just became a historical figure in this war. Another reason to remind the world why this war will not and should not end until Ukraine has clawed back every single inch of what is rightfully theirs.

Apologies if the photo shocked you. I ran across the video autoplaying on my timeline while scrolling twitter earlier and it's certainly disturbing.
I agree with burn_this_city that his face deserves to be seen and incidents like this shouldn't be hidden. Particularly in a thread such as this. I'll leave it up the discretion of the mods to remove/censor.

Interesting but not surprising story about how Ivan is learning from Ukraine.
I think he nails it with this point:
Quote:
The Russian army, he said, is no longer sticking to the Soviet playbook that led it to a series of defeats early in the war. Instead, they now appear to be mimicking tactics that Ukrainian troops learned over years of training by NATO. The key difference between the two styles of warfare is that NATO encourages local commanders to make snap decisions on the ground rather than constantly waiting for orders from above.

You can't undo generations of lack of initiative and fear of reprisals.

Absolute balls of steel. Puffing on a smoke as he surely knows it's his last moments and says what he says in defiance.
Meanwhile the russians showing what pussies they are by gunning down an unarmed prisoner than posting it online. Don't look up the various russian war telegram channels if you won't want to bring your hatred level up to the maximum.
100% his face should be posted and as harsh as it sounds, we should suck it up if it makes us uncomfortable from the comfort of our armchair. This guy literally died fighting for his homeland and we plain as day see the kind of sick monsters they are fighting against. It's not a stretch to say that this fate awaits each and every Ukrainian who lives inside Ukraine if their country is defeated.

Imagine standing in you own shallow grave knowing that was it for you. He knew he was going to go and that any words would be his last, but it still would have been really hard not to beg for your life.

I will admit I saw the video and it was hard but a reality to the situation. I said a little prayer for him and his family but this scenario is playing out everywhere as a result of this sick invasion.
What I do find myself doing more these days is appreciating the fact that I am not literally in Ukraine and making that comparison to my day to day life. Sometimes we all get tired, rundown, upset at small things or what we think is important. Important to remember that no matter how bad things are, other's are not as lucky and are literally fighting for life or death.
God speed to all the Ukrainian defenders

In the age of social media, he has been immortalized within hours of this video being posted and hatred for russia ramped up significantly. Literally all of my UA contacts/friends/family have been posting and sharing this event. Whatever kind of "fear" the person recording expected to happen is having the completely opposite effect. Ukrainians far and wide know this fate awaits them if they lose their country so no chance in ####ing hell they will ever back down.

I mean the whole war doesn't make sense to me, but what I really can't wrap my head around is where is the hatred coming from? What did the Ukrainians ever do to the Russians for Russian troops to have such hate in their hearts to commit murder and atrocities like this?
The rehabilitation period of Russia's image and reputation after this war will be longer than Germany's because of social media. Germany at least was a net contributor to world culture, manufacturing, reconciliation, etc after WWII. Russia is not a contributor of anything except dirty energy shrouded in corruption. Their reputation may never recover.
The 21st Century should have been the century of peace, progress and global unity. I despise these war mongers who have stolen that promise from us and younger generations alike.

Videos like the one posted above are extremely important for people to see. It puts a face to this conflict and lets people understand the price being inflicted. The Gulf War that was carried on CNN pretty much removed this type of reality from the zeitgeist, insulating a generation or two from the realities and true cost of war. The glorification of surgical strikes, the lack of body bags coming home, and the lack of disclosure of the cost to civilians caught in the crossfire made war seem like a video game. People need to see the death and carnage up close and with it being made personal so they understand that war is nothing to glorify and the cost is immeasurable.
