Mel Bridgeman played very well for the Flames. I'll never understand why they traded him for Steve Tambellini.

I have minimal feelings on this, but I don’t really get why this trade was even worth the time it took to get it arranged. Perhaps it helps the farm in some way, but Zohorna looks like a better (also bigger) player with a higher ceiling.

I don't care one iota about this trade but I have to ask: is there a ceiling to discover for a 26-year-old tweener? Zohorna is what he is: a big guy who can't play consistently enough to stick in the NHL.

Hunt has played 202 NHL games, Zahorna has played 33; what makes Zahorna better?

Zohorna did nothing. He had his chance. Neither of these players are going to be in the top 6 or top 9 for that matter.

There was only room for one epic 'stache on the team, and Lanny McDonald's was it. Bridgman's soup-saver had to go!

I have not seen a single Wrangles game where Zohorna actually looked like an impact player, he is the most whatever player, at least Hunt is an NHLer

If the Flames make the playoffs, Hunt has a chance of playing if guys get injured. Not really the case with Zahorna. Zahorna turns 27 next month and Hunt 28 in November.

This thread title should actually be:

The Dryden Hunt for Radim Zahorna.

I felt like Zohorna was liked by Sutter so I'm surprised about this move.

12 pim and +1 for Zohorna in his first game, 1g1a +2 for Hunt in his first game.

Like others have said Hunt lives in Calgary and played with Kevin Rooney in New York.

Nice little tryout for Hunt, I'm sure he'll be motivated to earn another contract.

I assume they think Hunt is a better AHLer than Zohorna and this is for the Wranglers. It is kind of a weird little trade.

A bit of that perhaps.

Hunt is a local, and as a career 'tweener would probably be amenable to re-signing with the organization. With Brett Sutter likely retiring, the Wranglers are looking to set up a veteran leadership group going forward.

Zohorna is probably headed back to the Czech Extraliga, but in the meantime, the Marlies have a big body for their playoff run.

The Flames could have put him on waivers, but got a tangible asset instead.

Hunts goal last night against the Eagles was a dangle:

Why would they waive Zohorna? Wranglers looking at a playoff run too.

If the trade is for next year you could have just signed Hunt in the off season. So just kind of a weird little deal. Maybe Zohorna pissed them off and they wanted to change things up.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Perhaps they've wanted Hunt for a while (aforementioned reasons).
