That our GM still can't read the writing on the wall and is still making meaningless depth moves?
You're excited about current Nick Ritchie?
It's a nothing move, really. Nothing to get upset about. It's an audition for the guys coming in. Treliving was not going to make a blockbuster today, if he makes a massive move or two it will be in the summer.

I think for those who say we need to chill about getting worked up over this non factor trade, it's a symptom of Treliving's management that gets us.
It's always "Tre is on phone" making our team better. Bringing in a mountain of depth for long playoff runs. Having traded countless picks for depth D or bottom 6 guys that just become a revolving door of the same caliber of players. It's a lot more boring to just sign some depth D guy for $1 mil than spending how many 2nd, 3rd, 4th round picks.
I've said it before but Tre is one of those managers who always looks like trying really hard to be working and making the Flames better with all the PTO's, trades etc but during his tenure, his overall performance is quite poor.

I think this is a good move - didn't give up any futures. Feel bad for not 'uniting the brothers', however.
I have always liked Nick Ritchie. Yes, he wasn't effective in Toronto, but I do think he can be effective here. Stecher should help stabilize that bottom pairing and keep Zadorov focused on his own side rather than trying to cover both.
I don't think this is a large enough move. Bold move for Treliving to basically give this team his confidence over the lack of consistency that this team has been showing the entire season so far, especially in the last couple of months. This team better get a boost from that vote of confidence, and turn this around, but that's a lot of teams that the Flames are competing with for that last spot.
Glad for Mackey, hope and believe he will carve out an nhl career. Wasn’t going to happen in a place he didn’t appear to be wanted. A little more unfinished business.
Haha come on. Mackey got several chances to show he is an NHLer and honestly looked terrible.
Yeah, I actually think this is a good move. It seems like Nick Ritchie could be an upgrade on Brett Ritchie, and Troy Stetcher could be an upgrade on Connor Mackie.
