I just love that all the big moves have already happened and TSN have 9 hours of live coverage today lol.

I think the Flames will do nothing today. It has been deafening and its speaks volume that the coach has been doing most of the talking instead of a GM that's on expiring contract.
The owners don't care about winning. Our team is a business to the owners. As long as the fans buy tickets, spend $ for food and merchandise, all is good!
I think Tre wants to make changes but the he is handcuffed . There seems to be a power struggle between the current GM and the coach who is a former GM. I think players are frustrated , Allan Walsh tweet, and the recent comments from Coleman. Something is holding the players back. Im sure the leaders of the group have put in their 2 cents but are not being heard leading to issues between their ears.
I still think we need a new coach and a GM , whoever they may be, to maximize this team's potential! Our assets , whether they are our players, drafts , PTO's (sonny milano) hasn't been managed well.

Leslie was on SN a few minutes ago also suggesting the Flames were likely to be quiet.

Disappointing but not unexpected. Who knows maybe they still move a guy like Lucic which would be addition by subtraction for the rest of this season.

I mean, I'm glad if we do nothing today. I've been scared for weeks that we'll burn picks or prospects for depth players that will do nothing to elevate this team ... I'd rather sit tight until the summer. Our upcoming UFAs are just not interesting to other teams (but if somebody does want to spend a late pick on a Lewis or Ritchie, by all means, let's go), and I think in the summer we'll have a much clearer picture about the direction of the team (GM, coach, upcoming UFAs). Let's ride out this abomination of a season, add a good prospect with our 1st rounder and make the big moves in the summer.

The owners care about winning. You may not like how they are going about trying to do it, but they care.

I didn't throw my back out at work today for the Flames to do nothing. Feed me serotonin with Trades please Flames. Easy my pain!

So, the plan is to trade players in the off-season for peanuts? When teams know the Flames MUST make a trade to be cap compliant?

There is almost no evidence that this is true, but I guess we can take your word for it.

If at first you don't succeed, try it again for the millionth time! Everything has a one in a million chance of working.

It's not a gripe, just an observation.

The one time they actually did commit to drafting properly we got 10 years of Gaudreau and Monahan and that core.. give me that. More .

Well, fast forward to this time next year, with another losing season, the Flames can stock up on draft picks for their six pending UFAs. Then the rebuild will have truly begun.

What happens if the Flames are on the bubble again? It is very likely they won't sell again and lose another couple of core players for nothing in the off-season.

We will be cap complaint the money coming off the books will cover the raises given out.

We just have to figure out a way to fill out the roster and its going to be cheap young players.

Pelts, Zary and Coronato should be on the team along with Ruzicka and Duher.

It was mentioned either in this thread or the PGT that the Flames with their bad year good year pattern will likely make the playoffs next year, go out in round 1 and walk all their pending UFAs out for nothing. I can see this.

No next year continues the cycle of being a good team. They will be 1st or 2nd in the division and sell none of those players and lose 4 to free agency in the summer after the team loses in 5 games in the second round.

Edit. Tonnaged

Cap hit on Coronato if he signs is the rookie max. What's that at these days?

I believe the Flames do need to shed about $3M even with salaries coming off

925K but he will probably get the max bonus as well which usually counts the following season.

If we are paying the bonus that is a good thing.

Flames franchise verbatim.
This is the biggest issue.
