lol this is one of the dumber post game quotes I’ve read:

https://twitter.com/user/status/1631520703618109440

Good teams are considered good because they win, Blake.

I'm sure those real tanking teams will try to lose after trade deadline, which Flames start some points easily.

I dunno. They keep getting told by the media they are good based on shot volume.

Such a weird quote. It's almost as if they have given up.

I mean, might as well at this juncture. Almost every conceivable player on the Flames 2022-2023 roster has been attempted to match the elite talents of Huby, to no avail.

He won back-to-back Cups. He knows how to win.

And he's right.

The Flames are a good team that are playing more than well enough (dominating in many cases) to win most nights but they somehow don't know how to win.

Someone needs to notify the Flames that they don't need to suck every 2nd year

They can’t score, so they have to win by grinding out wins. Unfortunately they haven’t had the goaltending to play that way this year, hence they have the most 1 goal losses in the NHL. I don’t think the Flames are as bad as their record shows. They simply don’t get the saves they need.

The Flames outshoot their opponents regularly

I have a hard time deciding who's more disappointing and underwhelming, Kadri or Huberdeau.

This season reminds me so much of 2005/06 season all perimeter shots, low scoring, only to have Kipper to save the Flames winning games, no Kipper this time

Huberdeau is way better at staying on side

They don't know how to win because unlike the Lightning, they don't have a powerplay of

Killorn
Stamkos - Point - Kucherov
Hedman

Like there probably isn't a single one of those five positions on the powerplay they are as good. Not even the Killorn role.

nor do they have an elite goalie in his actual athletic prime (21-28). Markstrom was post-apex when we signed him three years ago, and probably spent his actual prime playing for the Utica Comets, just as Dustin Wolf is spending his prime playing for the Wranglers

It would be nice to trade a couple players for a couple 1st.
And play whole Wrangler team in NHL and send Flames to AHL rest of the season. Youngsters could get some experience and excitement.

The lack of injuries/man games lost this season I think is correlated with the playing style

They're averse to high traffic areas and don't block a lot of shots

Screams of a group that wants to collect paychecks but doesn't actually want to go to war for the jersey

I bet if you put something at stake that really matters to each of these guys, the product on the ice would look very different

We know what desperation actually looks like and that third period wasn't it. Not even close

Need to clean house and get some players with their hearts in it

It's the only way imo

This is nice in theory. The problem is that the Flames have no way to get rid of most of the dead weight on the team.
