Calgary’s average disposable income has cratered significantly since 2014/2015.
And ever rising property taxes and carbon taxes are kicking retailers squarely in the nuts also. It is not sustainable.

I wonder if Simons will look at that space? Outside Quebec, the only have stores in Missisauga, Ottawa, Calgary, and 2 in Edmonton.

Have to imagine they re-develop the space into several smaller stores, I really can't think of a place that would fit in there and do well

That was my point, exactly. The goods Nordstrom offered here have moved significantly down market, a reflection of the cratering of local disposable spending.

Nordstrom was nice, reminded me always of shopping in the US.
Classy, nice style, clean, very well organized and a nice ambience. Nice quality stuff.
Nordstrom Rack you could always fine some excellent deals.

Old enough to remember when the Sears there stretched further into the mall then it does now, on the main floor…IIRC there was an escalator, on the top level in the middle of the mall of the mall, that then dropped you into the middle of the main floor level of Sears.
I’m guess the space will be used by a few places, like the Sears at Southcentre went…each level has external entrances.

Maybe the Decathlon, so it isn’t in the middle of nowhere and has room to stock clothes.

How about Easy Street!?!? But in the great tradition of American brands failing the Canadian Market, maybe we could get a Dave & Busters for a few years.

You’re on to something there. Don’t build an arena that looks like a mall. Put the arena in the mall.

No, Easy Street was too soft. I want the old ambiance.
No redemption games, no bubble pits, no children under 13. I want it to be understaffed, with the few employees using those old quarter holster dispensers. Stand up games only. So many machines are sit down nowadays in Japan.
Displace the old cigarettes with artificial smoke tho, weed is allowed tho —- vapes are not. Only two food items sold, over spiced French fries in paper trays, and self serve slurpee machines. Lots of graphic gorey violent games. Arcades return to the supper time news, as hang outs for the shadies and undesirables.
