As much as I love the thought of Backs staying with the Flames wire to wire he’d be such a great add to any of the contenders and makes the most sense organizationally to flip if they are looking to retool and want to extend Lindy. Makes me teary eyed to think of trading backs though, one of my all time favs and a player that truly loves wearing the Flames jersey.

Does Carolina have a good prospect base? I took a look, and I didn't recognize a lot of names. Not that I am an expert by any means. I might just be out of touch with that organization (most probably actually).

Man a Toffoli + Backlund package would have to command a lot no?? Especially with a minimum of 4% retention hahaha  seriously though how could you not be at least a bit tantalized by the possibilities of what you could get for some of these 2024 UFA’s.

Jarvis is just 21 and still has a year left on his ELC and would hopefully be a centrepiece of a trade with the canes. Pair him up with a 23 1st and the PHI 24 2nd and I’d happily see retention of 50 percent on Lindy.
As far as prospects not in the show from them Gunler is the most desirable with Heimosalmi also being a super intriguing D prospect as well.

Backs would be a fit literally anywhere.
I’m all 100% in favour of selling, but trading Backlund would be the hardest one to swallow. Would love to see him go beginning to end in Calgary

Carolina doesn't have the cap space. They have $2.6M of LTIR. If the Flames trade anyone of significance it would likely be to one of Buffalo, Seattle, Winnipeg, LA, Minnesota, or the Islanders.

Honestly, after just watching Gaudreau/Tkachuk/Monahan/Giordano leave has left me numb. Not to mention 3 of those 4 left for zero or negative assets coming back to us. Time to recoup and retool.
