To be fair that's 3 drafts from now if you count this year's draft as the 1st draft. Eller is a really good bottom 6 player with experience. Avs are going for a repeat and from the West they should be the team to beat.

For a 33-year-old UFA who is a putting up Lewis type numbers I think Washington did well.
Eller was good in their cup run so maybe it works for the Avs but that is a good return.

Eller and Backlund will forever be linked in my mind since the Flames targeted one or the other in the 2007 draft. I still have the downloaded mp3 interview with Sutter after the draft of him talking about the "two Swedish boys. Actually, Ellers a Dane, and Backlunds a Swede, but both played in Sweden"

I will take a 2nd rounder down the road vs. a later round pick this year. That’s nice value for a depth guy IMO.

Exactly, what's so hard to understand about moving expiring old guys for anything? People here think our depth guys are worthless despite evidence to the contrary.
I'm sure BT is all over this market, trying to move expiring guys for assets. I refuse to believe he is just sitting around doing nothing.
