And I doubt he's waiving it to go to Columbus even if he got along with Gaudreau.

I think it's best if people just accept it's highly unlikely Markstrom is getting traded and hope he has a bounce back season. Vladar on the other hand I could see being moved in a deal for a UFA goalie to open up a spot for Wolf next season.

Kings fans are not happy with this move. Wanted Quick to retire a King... only had 20 games left.

On a hockey related note, a great trade for the Kings but with what Quick did for them, I understand why Kings fans don’t like it.

LA could go really far this playoffs.

We probably would've had a few takers a year ago. But we couldn't trade Vladar in case we needed somebody to bail out Markstrom in the playoffs in the unlikely event he pulled an all-time choke job, we would have a guy who could step in and be effective before the starter lost the series for us. We also had no up and coming starters ready to take an NHL backup job.

You would think they would quietly just approach Quick and say "We need to move your cap space out to facilitate a deal - or you can just retire"

Maybe you avoid all this. He retires a King, can stay around the team, etc
