If cam_wmh compared their behavior somehow to the Vikings, would that be a problem?

I had my daughter at the orthodontist yesterday. What's with grown ups watching videos on their phone in public on speaker? The entire dentist's office was treated to whatever the #### this guy was watching while his kid was in with the dentist. The IDGAF was strong with this one.

These people need a kick in the nuts.
Every week my son has an hour long class in a building with a cafe & gallery. Everyone sits quietly reading, low conversation or peruses the art. This one guy blares footy highlights full blast on his phone. Just oblivious. Surely one week he could remember where his headphones are.

I see this so much when I'm in airports. It's just ridiculous.

Pick up a set of dollar store headphones. Give to said guy next time when needed. I love killing with kindness and this is such a prime scenario to do it in. The entire spectrum of possible responses are all going to be delicious and something to behold. Does he graciously and humorously accept? Does he accept quietly? Does he reject but turn his phone down? Does he get angry/aggressive and cause a scene?
I don't see an outcome where his phone isn't plugged into headphones, turned down/off, or he has to leave the premises. For a few dollars you have not just a win, but a guaranteed flawless victory. Unless he up and murders you while waiting for his kid to finish class, but you'll have to decide the risk factor on that yourself. Someone so enamored with footy they have to watch highlights on full blast in public will probably take a dive and fake an injury.

In this economy? They guy had probably already given up on life even before knowing the cost of this dentist trip. Nevermind the remaining decade long penalty left on his no money or joy jail sentence.

I was on a plane a few weeks ago and a guy in front of me had his phone out, watching anime, no headphones. I asked if he could turn it off. "But I don't have any headphones," he moaned. "Well I don't want to listen to it, and I doubt anyone else around here wants to either." Fair enoguh, eh says. 10 minutes later he has headphones plugged into the in seat screens. I assume he didn't have USB-C headphones, and really really wanted to watch anime. But that's a him problem, not an everyone else one. Figure it out!
I also had to sleep if the Dallas airport, and found a quite place to lay down, only to have some #### sit a few seats away and watch his phone without headphones. And later a gang of seniors watching CNN on shared phone.
Is society crumbling? WTF is wrong with people? Just zero ####s given.

I think it's safest to just stick to LOTR references wherever possible.

The worst.
The last place I worked at came with a tradition with my team to go for lunch on the last Friday of the month. It was always to the Grey Eagle's buffet.
Some of the guys were not small and would fill up their plate three-four times. Being 6'6, 265lbs it's always assumed I eat straight from a wheelbarrow, but I just don't. For like 18 months it was a monthly shaming.

I feel very grossed out when people pile a mountain of food on their plates.

the part I highlighted.
"I’d put some in my coat for shredding later that day, like an Indian warrior packing pemmican."
I wouldn't call it offensive, but to me comments like that are now inappropriate, that's all.

I think it was called Treasures of China, not Taste of China. I used to go for dim sum on the weekends in the 90s. Maybe the name changed later, I haven't been since back then.

IIRC Foody Goody had a Deerfoot Mall location and a south one. Both were disgusting.

I remember being 12 years old or so and going there as part of a friend's birthday party. It wasn't about eating food, but finding new and creative ways to use what they served as construction materials.

Right! Yes.
And...I dont think you could go back if you wanted to. That place has to be out of business by now.

Foody Goody was further south on Macleod, in the little mall north of Toys R Us. There used to be a Work Wearhouse, Tim Hortons, and Burger King in the same complex. None are there anymore.
Treasures of China was in the complex north of the Walmart, where Consumers Distributing was (I know, super current reference) and is now a Bulk Barn. I think the space is still an Asian buffet, helpfully named Asian Buffet.
