This is a very serious situation. My hope is that it will at least cause the liberal party to jettison Trudeau pre-election. A huge amount of stink here. The extra stink that Rosenberg was involved with another donation and then is writing the report on interference? This is comical level WTF.

i just hope that the folks at the CPC are vetting the heck out of everyone anyone in the party is planning to meet with from today forward. Seems there is some real potential here from them to let the Liberals potentially implode - so why offer up self made diversion on a platter to these criminals
must be something being a member of justin's inner advisory team over the last little while, as it seems one scandal to the next each week

First thought: if only the CPC had MacKay or someone as leader so as to be well positioned to take advantage of this.
Second thought: is this enough of an opportunity for the NDP to strike while the iron's hot and trigger an election sooner rather than later? Obviously this is going to end up being a pretty big scandal but it's not going to have legs until 2025.

I don't see why the NDP would do that. Their best case scenario for them is basically what they have now. The Conservatives aren't going to play ball like the Liberals will in a minority government situation and I highly doubt anyone is going to win a majority.

Like do the Libs not do a leadership review or race when they are in power?

I dunno, I think they might see it as a "best case" if they were to increase their seat count by a significant margin and create some positive momentum in that area. They were already polling at a "hold steady" rate before all of this stuff came out, weren't they? I would think that by being the party of "we shall not stand idly by", they'd carve more than a few seats off the Liberals. And if CPC minority happens as a result, they're probably not the official opposition, but they're the only opposition with any real credibility to hold the government to account.
I guess what I'm saying is they might end up having less influence on the laws that get through Parliament, but wind up in a considerably better spot politically speaking (and more likely to further increase their share of seats in future).

Good old CBC. Yesterday you had to scroll down to find the story, today it right on top but the headline is "Attempted interference in 2021 election did not compromise the vote: report". Carry on folks, nothing to see here.

The NDP's best case scenario is probably to become the official opposition. Their long term goal should be to take over the spot that the Liberals usually hold. All of those swing voters that jump from the NDP to the Liberals every election could potentially be replaced by swing voters jumping from the Liberals to the NDP. We saw it in Alberta, it's the long term path to eventually win government.

More to come from CBC ... (as we want to be first to report on it and put the headline up)
Oh what do you know, the report that Morris Rosenberg (no relation to the Morris Rosenberg in charge of the PETF that accepted a 1 million dollar foreign donation in direct conflict of interest that was just revealed less then 24 hours ago because that would be way too much of a coincidence) suddenly revealed the report that was tasked a year ago...today...as the bad news was pouring in.
How convenient! And the jury (that has no prior conflict of interest) is out.
No wrongdoing! Case closed!
CBC on the case as always to report the real news that matters to you...first!
You can't make this stuff up, it's so absurd.

I think the attacks on the CBC here are unwarranted.
Quote:
There was no foreign interference that “threatened Canada’s ability to have a free and fair election” in 2021, according to a report on the protocol designed to inform Canadians in the event of threats to the 2021 federal election.
|
I mean the above quote is just a factual statement on what the report said.

Where are you getting that from? According to the most recent annual report total donation income was $632,592 of which $188,756 were donated by the directors, members and related parties of the foundation.

Don't let the facts get in the way of CBC hate.
Currently the second headline on the National Post website:
Independent review finds no widespread interference in 2021 federal election, but problems with system
But yes, the CBC is a problem

I’d say CTV coverage is similar to the CBC coverage right now. Neither have the csis source so are limited to reporting on the government reaction to the csis source. Right now only my ctv there is a Covid article, an article on ufos and an article on free bc contraception.

A compatriot CBC-disliker like five posts above you said that CBC had the same headline first yesterday. Since that seems to be a big deal.

Please dont try to say the CBC running that story and headline is anything other then damage control. The "independent" report appears to have been written by the former head of the Trudeau foundation, which, while he was head of, has fresh allegations of financial support at minimum from China.
CBC is nothing more then state media at this point. It works though, most Liberal voters I know enjoy watching and listening to CBC frequently, running this story just pacifies their voter base.
These allegations are extremely concerning, and more concerning is the current blocking being done get to the bottom. Every MP regardless of their side should be demanding clarity, and any found to be compromised immediately dismissed.
Im Sorry will not cut it.

The CBC stuff is weird. I went to their web site right now and it's the top story. What am I supposed to be mad about?
