Yikes, hope they don’t reel in Saros, he’s actually a good goalie. I laughed when they brought in Smith and Campbell, I wouldn’t laugh if they got Saros.
If true, the Preds are truly packing it in and selling. I don’t see Askarov being ready yet, and Campbell sucks.

Nashville got an entire draft class for Jeannot, I don't think they are going to accept two bad contracts and a 1st for Saros.

But it's the Oilers. The rest of the league owes it to them to help them out because mean old Bettman is trying to hold them back by having a salary cap.

that thing that allowed them to acquire the impact players they had in their 2006 run then promptly ran them out of town.

Why would a GM who just fleeced Tampa for a 4th line grinder turn around and make a worse trade?
Oiler fans are drunk.

I’ve read a few articles that suggest that Toronto may be trying to move Kerfoot, Holl, and Engvall, in order to make room for another D. I don’t care for Holl, he’s too vanilla. Engvall is 6’5”, and skates well, but he’s more of a PK/role player. Kerfoot is ok, but a bit on the small side.

Right, I thought that when people mentioned bad contract but thought it could've been a prospect or something.
Yeah, they're not getting Saros, who's on a great deal for two seasons after this one, for a late ish first (still time for them to flub it up though), JP (3rd/4th round pick value) and a much worse tender on the same contract.

On the radio this morning they were speculating one of Ekholm or Chychrun to the Oilers.
Be interesting to see how they make the cap work, i'm sure someone could always develop an allergy.

Because he got 6 mins and extremely sheltered exposure because Sutter was more worried about his ego and being told to play him than he was interested in actually giving the kid a legit chance. Then media and publicity started to heat up and he made a ####ty comment one post game and voila, got spoken to more sternly and all of a sudden magically Pelletier is actually given a shot and- who would have thunk it- performs because he’s on a line with Huberdeau and Kadri. Like, come on now. Put Phillips 14-16 mins a night with Huberdeau and Kadri and you’ll see pretty much par for par the same metrics and performance.
Duerr, again, is on line 4 in a checking role in the NHL. The difference is most definitely not “HUGE”.

You think Sutter suddenly played Pelletier more because the media got mad and somebody gave him a talkin' to?
Long before Pelletier got bumped up from the 4th line, even before Pelletier played an NHL game this year, Sutter spoke fondly of Pelletier and how he turned his season around after a poor showing in training camp. Darryl even said something to the effect that it takes time and he's learning what it is like to be in the NHL. Then you see Pelletier get a couple of games on the 4th line to ease him into the NHL action before he got more ice time and a chance with Huberdeau and Kadri. Even then it took Pelletier a while to get going. They eased him into his role instead of throwing him to the wolves. I wish society could learn some patience and stop with immediate gratification. Some players can jump into a high role and some players need to be eased into higher roles. Do you think Pelletier should have been put on a line 1 or 2 right from the start? Do you think that would have gone well? Sutter eased him into the NHL and when he was ready for more he took off the reigns. He may know a thing or two about how to get players NHL ready, but perhaps the fans and media should be in charge instead because they all know better.

I would be legitimately surprised to see the Oilers make a deal for a player or position of actual need.

Oilers being close on Chychrun and the Flames coming in and stealing him would be funny but I don’t want the Flames to pay the price for Chychrun

I think it will be Ekholm and that would legitimately help them.
Chychrun is a younger, and possibly better version of Barrie.
I'd imagine Holland wants to deal Bouchard, but teams are asking for Broberg.

Even after joining the Kadri line it took a long time for Pelletier to get points, though he looked pretty good otherwise.
