Interesting. This snowpack ain't no joke. Arguably as bad as 03's.

Skied today (Friday Feb 17) and thought the conditions at lake Louise were awesome. This morning we had some icing sugar snow on the corduroy.

But most importantly, the lift lineups were short to non-exsistant.

I fell I had my best ski-day of the season. 19 runs and about 39k covered. I will admit to about 7 or so runs being off Juniper though - so they were very easy laps

Finally got a nice powder day at Sunshine today. First one of the season for me. Feels like there is a lot more than the 13cm they say fell overnight.

That’s fantastic news! I just ordered a pair of skis for my son’s 18th and my buddy in Calgary is collecting them when they are mounted on Tuesday.

I can’t wait to get over there next month.

I don't go to Sunshine very often but I was surprised to see the RCMP with a speed trap at the bottom of the Sunshine access road in that small parking lot. I'm happy I wasn't busted because I was doing at least 20 over but they waved down the two vehicles in front of me. It is good to know for the future because I'm not interested in going them any of my money. Gotta ride the brakes down that last stretch leaving Sunshine.

skiied at lake louise yesterday, my wife and i usually try to go saturday's, but life got in the way - i don't care for going sunday's as it seems busier to me, and then there is the rush to get home, get dinner going and get ready for the upcoming week

They sure got a lot of snow this week and conditions seemed very good. it was gently snowing there yesterday. Lot's of loose snow even on the groomed runs, so i found it tricky to negotiate some sections.

Sundays at LL are almost always less busy than Saturdays, actually.

RCMP are very often on the LL access road at the 1A turnoff. It's very easy to speed there since you're going downhill and the limit is only 50

RCMP, or Sheriffs? As far as I know, all the speed traps are Sheriffs these days.

You're probably right...I don't particular care about the distinction since it's all the same if they have bright flashing lights and the authority to hand you a very expensive piece of paper.

Fortunately whenever I leave Louise I'm usually slowed down by some absolute moron of a struggler going way slower than necessary. Probably the only reason I haven't ever got a ticket there. That road can very easily and safely handle 70kph.

so i have been doing it wrong for two seasons......hard to know if it just seemed busier to me, or if it really was. if it was i'd assume that more folks were there due to better snow conditions and it not being really cold.

i beleive that their spring passes also kicked in, so that may have been a driver

as an aside, we shared a lift with a woman who spoke of skiing in several different resorts in the US along with places like Mortitz and Chamouix (sp?) and it seemed like she had been to thse places recently

Spring passes are for sale, but I don't think they kick in until March 1. That's what the poster about the urinal told me on Saturday, anyway.

It was the RCMP on Sunday at the bottom of the Sunshine road. I could be wrong but the RCMP still take care of that stuff in the national parks.

Tomorrow is the last day for reduced Spring Passes at Sunshine.

Just found out I can still purchase a Youth pass for my son even though he turns 18 two days before the pass kicks in because he was 17 at 31 December of the ski season.

It pays to read the T&Cs.

Maybe they both do it, typically it is the Sheriffs on the highway, even in the parks.

Sounds more like an absolute genius of a benevolent hero saving you from the indignity that they have previously suffered.

Hoping for some advice. I will be on my own for Easter this year (April 9/10 weekend) and want to take the opportunity to visit a resort I have never been to before. The contenders are Fernie, Kimberley, Revelstoke, Jasper. I am leaning to Fernie because of the drive time and logistics around my dog, but from some googling I'm a bit worried Fernie in April may be a bad bet.

For context, my favourite kind of skiing is fast carving on groomed runs on my race skis (i.e. Panorama front side is my idea of heaven), but I also have a pair of Kore 93s and was thinking Fernie would be the place to put those to work moreso.
