Holy draft picks Batman

Seriously though, what could we recoup for Lindholm, Hanifin or Toffoli with some retention? They're already on amazing contracts to begin with

If one of them nets you two 1sts, or a 1st and an A- prospect, you'd have to consider it

This heavy competition to level up is the perfect scenario for the Flames to cash in on teams betting on themselves to go all the way

If this week go sideways (& even if it doesn't) I hope Brad puts a flyer out there and takes calls on some of these high value contracts

If I were him I would even put it out there to Colorado who is trying to get their SC band back together that we'll retain to give them their #2C back

The prime trade targets have been snatched up now, and other teams will be hungry to answer. This could be absolutely perfect for the Flames to do a reload and restock the cupboards in quick order

This is crazy. Can we get a first for Walker Duerr?! Or a second for Dennis Gilbert?! Maybe someone might want a Radim Zohorna

Can someone explain this to me?... is it cuz he is what passes for a fighter now? If you watch his fight card it's pretty bad . Cuz he scored 41 points last year? Because that's a fluke for what he offers with only 14 points this year vs 41 his rookie year . Or are Tampa smoking the glass #### ?

They 9nly explanation is they know their ag8ng core may only have one chance again / Tampa finally got competitive enough to draw attention from yhe other major sports to make money and are desperate to keep the revenue for short time gain as they know they are about to head into another long interest drought as the team wont compete after the next few years fo along time again so picked given up for the next few years anyways.

Tampa will bleed once their window is shut. They barely had any assets left already, now you blow almost a full draft class on a bottom sixer whose production took a huge hit this year. I get pushing all the chips in with their current core, but this is nuts.

There’s the rub, “ having a buyer”.

No one wants Lucic. He has no value now, and none going forward.

Lol, you don't know the players a GM wants for a cup run.

The cost they paid for Jeannot is absurd but I don't think you can fault an organization for going all in when their core still has a window. Clearly they see more in this player than the stats would indicate so time will tell on this one but this is a home run trade for the Predators regardless.

Crazy deal, but championship teams with elite cores are willing to give up futures to extend their window. Tampa has a history of targeting players that would be a fit for their lineup for when it matters, in the playoffs.

It’s a bit high, but a 800k 3rd line, borderline 2nd line player has value. He’s 4th in the NHL in hits. Unique player.

People will look at the ROR, Meier, Tarasenko deals, and yea, those guys are better players. But they have also have multi million AAV’s.

Cal Foote is overrated. A 2025 late 1st is a good get for Nashville, but it’s hard finding impact players there. And the laundry list of later picks can be somewhat replaced by Tampa being able to entice college players.

I just don't see it as a good time for them to go "all-in" -- they've been to three straight finals and won two. All the best teams are in the East this year. And they're all loading up to make a run. Heck, Tampa, Toronto, NJD, and NYR have all made major moves sending out futures to load up for long playoff runs and half those teams will be gone in the first round.

If i was Tampa I'd maybe just head in to the playoffs and see what your current, pretty good lineup has left in the tank instead of overpaying for middle-class assets to try and grind your way to a third championship in four years.

In the off-season TBL traded McDo for Myers+Mismash. And Myers is now buried in the AHL and seems like a piece that TBL could move if they needed a few cap bucks.

Pretty nuts what NAS has pulled out of TBL this year.

It was Forsberg only for Erat+Latta.

Yeah the lightning were in cap crunch, and McDonagh was the casualty.

If I recall, I believe he was threated by Brisebois with waivers (NTC not NMC). With reverse standings order from the previous season, he'd likely end up in a less than desirable location -- thus he relaxed his NTC for the Preds.

It may have been a conversation to find an 'ideal' fit, or a fire sale, thus the return was poor.

I wonder if Coleman at 50% gets a good return, not this good but good.

This feels like Tampa rolling a grenade into everyone's trade deadline room.

Now teams with their own Jeannot's (or guys they feel compare) will be telling other clubs they want a King's ransom too.

Coleman has four years left so that deal's going to be hard to move. Not impossible but I'm not sure there would be much in the way of assets coming back.

Like, say, Horvat? Or Tarasenko? This seems like a bigger return than either of those players got and they would contribute to winning a lot more than Tanner freaking Jeannot.
