Oh yeah it will be soooo much better when they both leave for absolutely nothing next off season. Late 1st in the best draft in a decade is worth it alone.

Watch Treliving trade a 4th and Phillips for Gibson who returns to peak Gibson for a cup.

Didn’t Tkachuk resign in 2019? Is there precedent to a player of Tkachuk’s caliber extending to a long term deal a year before his ELC expires? name one. Also do you believe, after all we’ve seen, that is how Tkachuk goes about his business? Please. 2+2 doesn’t equal 6. You’re reaching.

Again, the direction from Edwards, in all likelihood, was make the playoffs. Not make the playoffs in 2-3 years. Make the playoffs now. It’s been that way since the cap.

Lastly, there’s no reason to believe your suggested way of how things should have/could have turned into better results. Tkachuk’s not here anymore and I doubt, very much, it was ever going to play out any different. Laying the blame at Treliving’s feet is completely unfounded.

It's going to be an insane sellers market on defenseman this week now with the majority of scoring fws gone. Saturated or not, the premiums are going to be insane.

At this stage, I'm really hoping they're selling cap space.

Oh boy with Grier getting ripped off, I'm hoping now the Oilers don't get ek65 since Grier probably screws that deal up too

Hey, maybe the Flames should consider being true sellers. What an insane thought that would be.

Problem is that there's less capital on the market now too. Less buyers out there to drive up prices. We may have missed out on the good selling times.

The Flames also didn’t have a guy like Jeanott. Tampa always goes after certain guys and if they win another championship no one will care

I would be good with that, but need some salary to go out to make it work.

Prove me your right where the Neal signing was lauded around the league as a great longterm signing for the Flames.

Like I said, Neal was a career 20 goal man. Every year. And as for stories saying it was good news:

https://www.usatoday.com/story/sport...ames/36563771/

Neal has topped 20 goals in each of his 10 NHL seasons, and was considered the top player left on the free-agent market a day after the NHL's signing period opened.

https://thehockeywriters.com/james-n...-with-calgary/

Neal is a lock to score 20 goals and there were few players in free agency anyone could say that about. He had 25 goals and 44 points in 71 games with the Vegas Golden Knights last season then added six goals and 11 points in 20 games during their run to the Stanley Cup Final. He’s played for winning organizations like Pittsburgh, Nashville, Vegas and Dallas and he’s a veteran with proven playoff experience. Regardless of who he plays with, he’ll put the puck in the back of the net.

If that’s the case, I would seriously consider selling Tanev. I love that player. But he’s an expiring and fairly inexpensive contract and he’s exactly what a lot of PO teams are looking for. I wouldn’t touch a young guy like Hanifin who is just starting to become a great shutdown guy and puck mover.

Who was it that said they thought Tre might be after Chychrun? Was it dammage? I have that feeling too....

Interesting that a lot of the "buyers" are pretty much done now.

Threw this out earlier today;

Tanev to the Oilers for 2023 1st & 2nd plus Puljujarvi. Looking at it a little closer the Oilers would still need to shed cap to fit Tanev in. Perhaps we retain and the Oilers add an additional 2nd (2024)?
