I thought I’d have the chance to see somebody dominate a game, get a sneak peek of perhaps the next great player

I couldn’t believe my eyes when he was last back, shift after shift

Maybe he had an off night defensively. Maybe this is just how he plays in junior. Whatever. He clearly is *so* gifted offensively, and puts butts in seats, so he looks like he can do what he wants. It all makes sense

But it’s funny the people coming in, extrapolating the observation into something it isn’t, and valiantly defending his honour

Except that’s not entirely true. There are some age restrictions (16 years olds) that need consent from the players/ families But not all trades in Junior require all players agreeing to the destinations.

15 & 16 yr old signed WHL players can't be traded. Majority of high-end 17-year-olds in the WHL have no-trade clauses now days.

A 17-year-old who has a no-trade clause will have had to approach the team’s GM to ask for a trade; a team won’t be able to make the first move. The WHL will then approach the parents to make sure the procedure was followed.

Context man...I was replying to "only a Flames fan who haven't won anything in 25 years would care about two way games"

Every successful team cares about 2 way game

Streak ends at 35 games.

He's pretty shifty and dangerous all night. Easily the fastest skater on the ice tonight but his wingers were trash and couldn't do anything with his passes. Regina must be tired as this was game 4 in 6 nights.

Both teams just didn't have much offensive instincts tonight. Bedard missed the net a bit tonight. He had 3 shots on goal but probably missed the net 4 times. One was a nifty deke to go around the outside of the defender but he fired it over the top of the net.

Stayed on the ice for 90% or more of the PP and was the goto forward on the PK. He created a couple chances for himself on the PK too. He is definitely all offensive minded all the time but tonight he didn't show the lazy back checking or coasting that fans noticed in Calgary the other night.

Ok, gg. Season is done. You can probably catch Montreal or Vancouver for 7/8th in the lottery if you really, really try. Good enough for a 5% shot at franchise relevance.

This is a good team, add Bedard and Wolf next year with a decent attitude and this team can do some damage.

1g,5a tonight, giving him 52 goals and 111 points in just 43 games. 2.58 pts/gp- McDavid was 2.55 pts/gp in a league that, in my opinion at least, is easier to score in.

And playing with inferior players to what McDavid had.

Excellent point. Bedard leads the Pats in scoring by an incredible 42 points. McD had Strome and Debrincat to work with.

Started composing the post when Lindholm scored.

Still applies. 5% chance of Bedard will help this team a lot more than a 5% chance at a cup. The team is just cursed this year. Crossbar springs a breakaway? Tanev scoring own goals? Team has no juju.

Christ sake man.

Where are you getting your info? They would need to finish with less than 77 points to have anywhere close to 5% chance.

Flames already have 65 points with 24 games to go. They won't lose all 24 even if they sell everything they can at the deadline.

Spoiler!

Zachary Benson would still be the most valuable asset in this organization

It would be funny if Edwards decided to replace Tre with Sutter after we’d managed to tank enough and win the lottery. Only for Sutter to pick someone else because Bedard doesn’t dump and chase enough.

Even Sutter would pick Bedard.

An honest discussion of the chances to make the playoffs, and what the plan should be on deadline weak is fine, but can we change the damn string title?
