How much do we need to pay Markkstrom to get him to stand up when he takes a shot?

Markstrom keeping this close at 3-0 could easily be 11-0

All that’s left is for Markstrom to go to Sutter and pull a Patrick Roy.

K then let's analyse this particular goal.

Let's look at the second the shot is taken.

Admittedly I'm not a goaltending coach or expert but I'd like my goalie to be at the top of his crease here an attacking the shooting thats winding up, instead of having a foot still on the goalline / post. Also dont think he really get's square here on what was a pass the Flames deflected on a bit of a broken play.

Tanev does collapse way too low into the crease for sure which is an issue.

And now then the puck goes in.

Still deep in his net with a pad on the post. Makes himself very, very small in his butterfly, and I dont think he ever got square to where the shot came from (although that could be on Tanev collapsing too low).

In the end it's the same issues that have plagued him all season on these medium danger shots from the tops of the circles.

Too deep in his net, makes himself small, and not square.

Markstrom would be better off standing in the middle of the net doing nothing.

Starting Markstrom is probably our best chance to secure a higher draft pick.

Avs are the everything the Flames are not. Talented. Fast. Creative zone entries. Good PP.

Definitely, and the PP has been really bad. It’s not one factor. But I’m just saying that amongst the constellation of factors, goaltending is the most important for me.

You definitely can’t say it’s only been Markstrom who has been bad. According to the goals saved above expected metric, Vladar has been worse, and he’s just been fortunate to pick up more wins because the team in front of him has played better on those nights. That might not factor in when the goals are let in, though. There was a poster with an awesome post about that at one point. Credit to that poster, whomever it was.

If the flames can't deal with the mounting pressure of the playoff race, there's no chance they can deal with the playoffs.

So, can we please trade lindholm soon. He is a guy who was propped up by gaudreau as a line mate. Without him, he’s basically not even as good as backlund.

Millen “that is where he lost the net”. Basically saying his positioning was off on that goal.

This game is over ladies and gentlemen. No way the flames are coming back from 3-0. Dare I say, shutout?

Can someone on the Flames, start a fight. Gain some momentum. Show some emotion.

Flames just crumple up when they play speedy teams like this. It's ugly. Like a deer in headlights.
