He's made more saves than the Avs goalie. How bout that.

I looked at before but think he has like a .971 save percentage once we are trailing by 2.

Doesn't change how demoralzing letting 2 goals on the first 2 shots is a for a team though.

And how it completely allows the other team to dictate the game and now the Flames have to play a game they aren't great at which is trailing and needing to push for goals.

It all has a trickle on effect

Yes, that's certainly the narrative. I was talking about the analysis of a single particular goal.

Yeah but the ~25 starting goalies above Markstrom in goals saved above expected this season don’t face nearly as many tough shots as he does. Not one. He leads the league in “can’t blame the goalie on that one” goals against…or something like that. I think.

I don’t get why there is an expectation the sixth highest cap hit goalie in the league and second highest cap hit player on the team makes an exceptional play every now and then.

You cannot look past the goalies when evaluating this team. Dan Vladar is 42nd in the league in save percentage at 89.4%, and Jakob Markstrom is 46th at 88.9%. The goaltending is the single biggest factor in why this team sucks.
