Bill Wirtz would have made Kane pay for his own plane ticket.

That's not true. Chicago players were mad about Saad leaving and had him traded back.

Kane and Lafferrty are scratches tonight...something going down, for sure, would be my guess.
Edit: Kane has returned to Chicago from Saint Joe...doubtless to pack.

Ninja...as far as Toews moving on, IMO, he has given all he has had to give, he has had health issues, and I feel he is at the end. Kane is still consistently productive, and his style, being less physical, is more conducive to playing on.

Has there been talk of Kane re-signing in Chicago? If it’s legacy that he is after, he might consider moving for the largest package, missing 20 hawks games, and then re-signing.

What's crazy is all these eastern teams are loading up like arms race and only 1 will come out to face the avalanche.

True, but this year's Avalanche are not last year's Avalanche.
I think the Rags genuinely have a shot.

Young, rich people want to live in large cities with international esteem and work for organizations with storied history and brand recognition. More news at 11.

Yeah but this year's Flames, Blues, and Wild have all dropped off a cliff, and the VGK, Stars, Jets, Kraken who are replacing those teams do not look as good. Come the completion of 82 games, I think the Avalanche emerge as a pretty easy favorite in what is a really weak Western side

We all knew the Hawks were selling their souls to win those Cups, and they did.
The arms race between Boston and the Rags is in full effect, and Tampa I think will still have something to say. One of those teams, who don't make it, especially Boston or NY, the offseason cleanup will be ugly.

For all the crap the leafs get, they would still be better than Edmonton or Vancouver winning the cup. I'd much rather have a passive listen to Matthews' cup win over the constant McDavid fluffing.

Well I don't think when you're making the money he is, that he has to drive the van to Costco and fight Manhattan (or Chicago, or Calgary) traffic to get there, or worry about how big a backyard his house has; he will lease out a $2M condo within 7 blocks of MSG where he can walk or have a 2 min drive in.
He also is likely living somewhere else come offseason.
If I had to play in 3 cities in my NHL career for the living experience, it would be Calgary, New York City, and probably LA/Anaheim/Miami.

Oh, I completely agree, I think the Avs easily come out of the West, but looking at that Eastern conference, I think the Rangers have a good chance of making it out, at least to the ECF.
But its a tough Eastern Conference at the moment. So many really good teams.
The Eastern Conference Semis and Finals are going to be insane. Lots of fun to watch, especially as a neutral.

I think a rebuild is probably easier to stomach after being a solid contender for a decade and winning multiple cups.
