There’s no finality to it, but it’s fair to say with every day that goes off the calendar…if you’re jumping in the last 20 games its hard.
We just continue to hope for the best for him.

At this point I would guess the off season
At this stage there is little point in him returning this year

He definitely was a big piece in the transition out of the d zone last year. Something I feel they miss this season.

Not some type of issue of not fitting into the system or playing shinny last year.
His on ice shooting percentage is down 2.5% vs his last two seasons in Florida, I have a hard time pinning that on him.
|
.
In terms of context, I only lumped Weegar in with Huberdeau because these 2 have experienced sharp decreases in their offensive production compared to when they were in Florida.
Overall though, I haven’t had any issues with Weegar’s game as a whole. I don’t think I’ve complained about him even once this year. His defensive game and physicality has been rock solid.

Probably fair. But once again, in terms of context, the question being asked is whether guys can produce under Darryl and I think it’s pretty obvious that for Mangiapane, he definitely can.
I don’t think anyone should’ve expected 35 goals from him again though as last season was an extreme outlier. He had a blistering start compared to the slow start this season. I’d say that despite the poor start, he’s picked up his game and over the course of the season and is right about where he should be expected to be, somewhere between 40-50 points is where he’ll probably finish.

Went to the HFBoards armchair GM section and saw a Sens fan make a thread proposing Weegar @25% retained + Lucic + picks To Ottawa for Debrincat. Reminded me why I don’t go into that section very often

I'm just surprised/ don't fully understand how they haven't somehow sidelined that salary. His situation not withstanding but they're just going to let that caphit sit there huh. There was a supposed deadline where they needed an answer at the end of Jan which they've blown past.

They haven't need to, presumably, so why bother? IIRC, you can only put someone on LTIR when their salary makes you go over the cap. Yes, you can then go over that equivalent, but you no longer toll daily cap space so it kinds of hurts you, too.
If they haven't need to, there's no point to it. If something comes up where they can make an acquisition and need it, I think it's a safe bet they''ve probably already talked to the league if it's something they're allowed to do.

If the flames are truly staying put for the trade deadline and know Kylington isn’t coming back this year, they should LTIR him and take on cap retention. Assets for very little actual dollars spent.

Or they can spend that space and give the team a better chance to make the playoffs.

Brad is a top GM and his comments seem to indicate he is not going to waste draft picks and prospects to nudge this team into the playoffs.
If the team was struggling but had top goaltending that's a different story.

I think it's pretty safe to say he won't be trading any high draft picks and prospects for rentals but he's still willing to make trades to try and get into the playoffs unless the team falls even further back.
The deals he would make would be low cost rentals or like the Toffoli deal where there was multiple years involved. Then if he is brought back he would just make whatever moves he had to this summer to make it work.

Hence the “truly staying put” part…but yes I don’t disagree.

I can embrace a trade deadline where they do nothing this season. Lines up perfectly with the teams performance! Heyo!
Honestly, I still want a couple dumpster dives like Poolparty or Kravstov. Just a young struggler in need of a change who's on the cheap. That's it.
Also, if tree surprises us with a couple big sell offs, then hat tip to him.

I would be all for adding a winger if the cost wasn't high. However, that would only make sense if they replaced Lucic in the lineup, but it is more likely that Pelletier or Duehr would come out, and I would not be in favour of that.

Can he pick up from where he left off? It took years to reach it.
Does he even come back to North America, or professional hockey?

Looks like the preds have decided the are out. They’re in a better position than the flames if you take into account games at hand.

When you look at the depth chart, especially at forward. I hope Treliving doesn't add a middle of the road forward. Unless it means Lucic doesn't play every night.
We already have our late season acquisitions. Pelletier and Duehr, and to a lesser extent, Gilbert.
I loves me some trade deadline fireworks, but any add at forward likely means a Pelletier or a Duehr going back to the Wranglers and I don't like that at all.
Unless it's some crazy splash of a player plus assets out for a better player, there are no glaring holes that can be filled by a 2nd or 3rd round draft pick.
