Gilbert is not going anywhere the guy shows up Richie Lewis do live up to there salary and give %100 honest hard work. Lewis is great pk and we are the most penalized team

Yeah, I just mean if the Flames are giving up on this year and want to make room for a younger player like Kapanen to see if he works out in a re-tool for next season.
Definitely, Lewis and Gilbert have been good in their roles this year. Might get a late pick for one of them to make that cap and/or roster room.

Bruh, you save zero cap by moving out league minimum players. They are also Ufa. Flames have 4 roster spots open next season and every one of them will have to be league minimum to fit under the cap.

Just for s**ts and giggles:

Huberdeau-Lindholm-Toffoli
Dube-Kadri-Kapanen
Mangiapane-Backlund-Coleman
Lucic-Lewis-Duehr

Extras: Ritchie, Ruzicka

Did I miss anyone?

EDIT: Whoops, missed Pelletier!!!

I mean obviously other moves would have to be made for next year if the Flames did pick him up and he was working out and worth keeping.

To fit him under the cap this year, don't we need a bit of room freed up?

Don't think so. The pro rated cap hit works I think.

I don't see the issue being the 3.2M this year, but more adding that for next year. That's not a contract teams are going to want to add when cap is so precious during the off-season.

It's simply too much for a guy that has produced at least than 0.5 pts per game for the last 2 years.

He probably wouldn't be going on waivers if he was producing up to his cap hit though.
I guess we'll see what happens but if the Flames are looking to get a bit younger in a re-tool they might be willing to pick him up and make a cap relief move at the draft if he's working out.

Or maybe they don't need another RHS anymore with Coronato as a possible option soon.

Just depends on if they have a plan or not. As mich as most of us are convinced of the ownerships marching orders. I can't see Treliving if he stays not doing some real heavy shuffling of the deck chairs this off-season.

You look at that contract window after next season and you can't deny they have to do a pretty hefty retool regardless.

Only 2 d men signed. No d prospects in the cupboard ready for duty any time soon. Some extremely key personnel need some new contracts (Lindholm, that's the list, everyone else takes a lesser priority.), yeah, like it or not, whoever is in charge has some serious re structuring work to do this off-season.

Too lazy personally to look up his term but at $3.5M/season he's worth a gamble. He has the skating and skills, why wouldn't you have him on a middle two line?

It is kind of funny though that 2 days after Berube called out his team for not having any passion they go and claim a player notorious for having a low GAF meter.

3.2m has to be up there for largest claim in terms of cap.
