Baseball will feel very different this year with the new pitch clock:

I don't mind a pitch clock but 15 seems a little quick. Even bumping it up to 20 would be a lot better imo.

Nah, 15 is perfect. Love it, they've needed this for years.

Seems like a big rush at 15 seconds. Does it stay at 15 seconds with runners on base?

Read that it is 20 seconds with runners on base and 30 seconds in between batters. Not sure what happens when the batter is outside the box taking signals from third. I find it distracting like one of those signs that clocks the speed you are driving, "yep that thing is pretty accurate."

Also, what happens after one or two pick off moves? Should the clock get to :01, runner will be getting a huge jump. I was at a AAA game in '18 or '19 when they began testing the pitch clock but can't remember much, it was $1 beer night. Except I remember my wife wearing the "Nacho Helmet" on her head, I will never forget that.

It actually looks like a cardio workout. Pitchers who need to give 100% to get max velocity might struggle as they won’t have time to recuperate a bit between pitches. Could lead to some meatballs down the middle.

Definitely going to be a big change for many. It will be interesting to see how guys handle in during Spring Training.

Pitch counts will.probably go down on average and likely see a bump in batting avg and home runs too.

Man, I'm SUPER excited for the season. Newly moved to Toronto, going to catch as many games as I can!! That pitch clock seems so rushed!

Part 1 of the Skydome renovations look pretty sweet too.

Jays blown away by rookie flame-thrower Ricky Tiedemann: ‘I wish I was his agent’

Quote:
“A lefty throwing 97, 98 (miles per hour) with a couple of different breaking balls, nasty change-up,” said Kiermaier. “To me, he looked like he had four plus-plus pitches today. I’m all in on him. He’s a guy who could help us right now. With an arm like that, he could get very good professional hitters out over and over.”

“He looked like he belongs,” said Rob Brantly, the eight-year big-league veteran who caught Tiedemann. “Extremely poised, made quality pitches, was focusing on the present task at hand and that’s really what it takes. The guys who can do that the best are generally the most consistent, and he’s doing it at a young age. I’m excited to see what else he’s going to do in camp, especially when games get started.”

I'd take the Tiedemann over the top complements with a grain of salt coming from Kiermaier. The guy is positioning himself as a super positive captain more than anything. Tiedemann is on a nice trajectory but things change. Can't rush these guys into the MLB against big league hitters. A full season in AAA will show a lot more first. He was ranked around 25 overall in MLB prospects so the super pumping isn't all that warranted yet.

That was the most enjoyable random 51 seconds of baseball I’ve seen in years.

Interesting that it starts from the time the pitcher gets the ball. I’m sure we’ll see some catchers changing up balls a lot more now.

I think the excitement is warranted. Not many lefty pitchers ranked ahead of Ricky for prospects, Kyle Harrison is the lone guy. He is 20, throws fast, is tall, and is a lefty. Those are things to be excited about.

Pretty sure the networks will have one in the on-screen box score.

Pitch clock is so awesome! Love it!

Can't wait for the automated strike zone now.

It'll be sooo much more enjoyable to watch a game.
