Been very surprised at how Kapanen has worked out in Pit. He was pretty solid in Toronto but never got into Sullivan’s good books from what I hear. Could see Chicago maybe claiming him but in all likelihood, he’ll pass through.

If he didn’t have another year I would be happy to swap Lucic for him which Burke would probably be interested in but the Flames are already over the cap next year so it doesn’t make sense

If the Flames want to try anything for the deadline, a claim here could be it. He's having a tough season on the 3rd line and not seeing much in terms of OZ starts, but could certainly infuse some much needed life into the Calgary PP.

Which is weird, because his father was such a hard working player and is now a coach. You would think that would have rubbed off on his kid more. Maybe a disciplinarian coach like Sutter would be good for him though.

That's just it, I mean in term of GAF, Lucic's GAF hasn't been there in most of the season, especially in defensive zone. But yet, Sutter refuses to bench him or scratch him.

My math has it being pretty close with the Lucic contract coming off for next year unless I'm missing something?
I think it would be fair to assume that there are going to be some hockey trades to be made as well to alter the existing group that will change the cap situation.
