Well now I have questions.
Who eats bananas under duress? Who is making you eat bananas under duress?
I like bananas and even I don't eat as many as a 'few' per week.

I planted two apple trees to save money.
Of course, each was a couple hundo and I imagine I get maybe a dozen apples total from them when they mature.

Safeway. I go in once a week, always buy apples. The apple section/stands/bins are always changing, they're constantly moving the orientation. Pain in the ass. I swear these mfers are doing it to appear like they are some type of market with different and fresh fruit arriving daily, it's likely some marketing horse####.
Just put them in the same spot.

Haha, I just like the convenience factor and they're a more filling fruit.

Almost all fruit has moved to "whatever is on sale" for purchasing. Bananas are the only consistently cheap fruit.
Raspberries do rock but the price vs. amount of food / nutrition you get is absolutely absurd. Usually $5-6 for those little half pints, my kids will crush one of those in a single sitting. Just not worth it. Strawberries are also bad price-wise but go a bit further, same with blueberries (which tend to be on sale for half-off every other week too).

Speaking as someone who is in line for the trifecta of "body falling apart", having had reconstructive surgery on both knees, chronic pain from whiplash from getting rear ended through an intersection by a drunk driver when I was 19, and having a dad who's had multiple back surgeries and now has this weird spinal implant thing installed in his back that he has to charge regularly and also supplement with a regime of medication, I guess I'll have to wait and see when those "bad back" genes hit me in full force but for now, I'd take bad knees and a bad back before a bad neck. Neck problems interfere with literally everything.

Potassium supplement would probably take care of this, but yeah, Sliver wouldn't be able to run his "erotic-but-under-duress banana-eating" Twitch stream in that case.

Have you ever had saskatoon pie? Might be the best pie ever made.

It's a self-imposed duress. If I could I'd live off Crave cupcakes, Runts and Hickory Sticks. Maybe some Cheezies and theater popcorn, too. Instead, I guilt myself when I eat what I like to the point where it's barely enjoyable, and then fill myself up on stuff I barely like and stuff I don't like (bananas) because they're healthy.

On those days where nothing is seemingly on sale, I go to the frozen fruit section and buy those mixtures for the kids to eat. They seem to think it's fun to eat frozen peaches, strawberries etc. without batting an eye. I shudder thinking how easily I get brain freeze.

Damn. Thanks for the realization that I haven't had hickory sticks and runts in a long, long time.

See, this is what happens to people who get second rate produce all their life.
Apples are like all fruit. The difference between most of the #### they try to pass off for $3/lbs and fruit that is picked and stored properly is the widest margin in food.

Pie is the only thing saskatoons are good for, can’t eat them raw. Blueberries are best raw with a little cream (real cream) and sugar. Raspberries are only good if you find them on the side of a dusty back road after you have walked too far on a hot summer day.
Bananas belong in the other aisle with cabbage and broccoli.

No, people who do this grind my gears. Unless you're making a baked dessert with them, there's absolutely no reason to add sugar to any fruit. You see it all the time with strawberries and grapefruit too -- you just took something moderately healthy for you and made it unhealthy for literally no reason, it's already a sweet thing. And if you don't like how sour grapefruit is than just don't eat grapefruit, it's like saying you don't like spicy things and eating a jalapeno.
