Did a quick look at this ... wanted to find out if the Flames actually lose more games against crap teams or if every fan base things this.

they do!

Losses against the bottom ten teams in the current standings ...

1. Arizona 13
2. San Jose 11
3. Toronto 10
4. Calgary 10
5. Anaheim 9

Toronto and Calgary hurting against bottom ten teams.

Other end ...

1. Tampa 3
2. Boston 3
3. Minnesota 4
4. Winnipeg 4
5. Carolina 4

How about against bottom five teams

1. Arizona 8
2. San Jose 7
3. Seattle 5
4. Philly 5
5. Calgary (tied with many at 4) (Calgary, Rangers, Knights, Hawks, Leafs, Avalanche, Stars Habs)

Other end...

Many teams with one ... Vancouver, Tampa, Nashville, Washington, St. Louis, Islanders

So the Flames aren't terrible against the worst 5 (Anaheim, Columbus, Chicago, Vancouver, San Jose)

But hurting against the next 5 comparatively (Montreal, Arizona, St. Louis, Ottawa, Philly)

I think they're kind of past the point of "just need to take care of business." Maybe the guys in the room have to tell themselves that but we don't. They have to win at a .650-something clip or whatever just to get to a playoff position. They can't even string 2 wins together. They are trending down not up.

If I knew how to get gifs to work on this forum I would post the Vince Carter "It's Over" gif.

Also Flames are awful vs the east.
29 go 11-11-7

Good news is there are only 3 games left vs them ( Bos- Tor- Ott)

Vs the west they have a .600 record so this would put them around 95 pts

Yeah some serious rose colored glasses in that projection. I know we dislike Edmonton here but let’s be realistic.

Let that sink in.

These teams are in the same tier.
Pretty accurate assessment. If not for the large volume of OT losses, this team would have been out of it weeks ago too (that could easily be looked at the other way, but given the fact this team finds ways to lose games versus win games, this is the way I will slant).

I had held out hope that the all-star break may have provided a reset, but if anything, it simply drove home the fact that this group is not going to put it all together this year.

An impotent PP combined with mediocre 5-5 offense and bad goaltending is not going to be a recipe for success in this league.

I'm here in Arizona for this one — looking forward to it.

Chychrun might be playing for the Yotes tonight. Full participant at practice yesterday. Probably a GTD.

Morgan isn't so sure Scorp. You may be right, he may be a GTD.

The magic number for Minnesota or Colorado to get in and the Flames to be done is 24.

Tick tick tick.

Judgement day is coming for the underachievers.

When your team is leading the league in losses by one goal maybe it's not ideal to continue to run a 4th line that gets outplayed and outscored on a nightly basis.

4th line is not a scoring line on this team. They are minute munchers.

Check out their schedule.

Boston, Toronto, Vegas, LA and Winnipeg twice plus Sea, Dal and Col.

and they still have 2 eastern road trips.

That's 13 games vs pretty good teams + Pitt and Buf who are fighting for their playoff lives.

So Basically 15 of their 24 games they better pray for the PP Gods as all those teams are better then the no goods 5 on 5.

Flames have definitely put themselves behind the eight ball with their play this season, to the point where any kind of losing streak puts them out of their misery. And more than that, they need to string some wins together and soon.

If they can’t get atleast average goalie play rest of the way, it’s done. But if we do get that, it’s achievable. Not too much to ask IMO.

Minnesota the last WC at 95.

15 of their 25 remaining games are on the road where they play for .500

At home where they are really good, in the 10 games remaining they play CGY, Bos, Was, Sea, Vegas and Winnipeg. No easy 2 points there.

95 will be tough to get for them.
