My hope was rekindled the other day listening to Rhett, Boomer, and Pinder, as they were overreacting and going through “sell” scenarios… Rhett and Boomer shut down any Backlund talk immediately saying “I think that’s the one guy who’s here forever”. So, fingers crossed he gets the C soon.

Not being talked about much but Mangi also had an incredible game too. That’s more like it from him.

Backlund better not go anywhere unless it’s to guarantee a Cup in his career. Iggy was heartbreaking to see bounced around.
Backlund is this franchise now.

If Backlund wants to extend his career or wants the Cup and the Flames are not in it, then he can go.
It’s a business. If Ray Bourque and Iginla can do it, so can Backlund

Not saying Backlund is or isn't captain material but it seems like if he was going to be named captain it would have happened when Gio left.

I didn’t watch last night’s game. Will watch today via PVR. Think I’m going to follow that strategy go forward.
It will guarantee playoffs.

late to the party, but, #### the Rangers. Nice win. Their fans are pigs and Fox and Trouba can seriously go #### themselves

Rangers fans are actually pretty funny.
Also, it should be noted that the common theme of every ATL is 'dirty' and 'goons.'
I think dialing down of physicality in hockey has confused people and they seem to forget that its still a physical game.

Yeah, Backlund is the captain of this squad
I actually think he just gets better as time goes on
It's not a difficult decision. Sutter drafted him too. He loves his hand picked guys so it should be a no brainer

I thought I had heard Sutter asked about it early in the year and they said that they were going to run with the A's because the guys they weren't considering weren't signed long term and the guys who were just got here.
I believe that once Backlund extends, as he said he wants to stay with one team, then he will probably get the C.
But I am old and my memory may be slipping

Awesome win. Great game from Huby. Follow it up with a Big W tomorrow and get some momentum behind the team!

Got around to watching the game highlights, and Ranger's Halak showed what the Flames have been missing all season; strong goaltending. The first minute didn't start well, but then the rest of the game he shut the door. That should've been a blown out for the Flames the way he had to make several grade A saves. Flames rightly got the result they deserved.
Also looks like Huby's stringing along back-to-back games of being noticable out there. Is he finally getting his swagger back?
And Backlund is a stud. The heart of the club. What a great season he's having.

Big time win to keep up with the rest of the pack. Huberdeau’s line and Markstrom had absolutely monster games for the team. Just goes to show what Huberdeau can accomplish when he’s physically committed to win puck battles, 50/50s and check. It just takes effort and desire and he was winning them all night which allowed him more opportunities to utilize his talent to create plays.
This is the evolution in his game I’ve been wondering about. Scoring the fancy rush goals is nice, but that’s easy. But can he put on the work boots every night and do the harder, unfancy, but necessary things in order to win these types of games? He just showed he can do it, now it’s just a matter of consistency.

Agree with the Backlund for captain chatter. Guy is the obvious choice...longest tenured Flame, hard worker, 2 way player, passionate, good in the community, well spoken, good interview. Passionately hates our rivals, you can see the emotion in his face in those big moments.
What's the hold up? I think we need to start a campaign to make this happen.
