With the Flames being on the fence this year, I wonder if we could hedge our situation and do what Minnesota did by using our cap space to supplement 3-way deals?

Good news! I know a place where a head coach / GM job opening might be had this summer!

Surprised this hasn’t been brought up yet, but for everyone who’s not interested in trading for Josh Anderson sounds like they can rest easy.

Don’t take this for verbatim but I think it was Kelly Hrudey who asked if the flames were still in on Anderson to Friedman and the response was something about the term being an issue that wouldn’t make it happen.

SureLoss is way better at this but it was something along those lines.

Man, Huberdeaus agent whimper triggering his trade rumours would be amazing right about now. That would make this hnic hot stove lounge perfect.

I was thinking the same thing. The Flames might be in a position to essentially buy some draft picks or a prospect even if they don't want to buy or sell.

Gotta think the Calgary first, if in play, would gain significant interest. The idea it could be a top 15 pick I think is at least another first round picks' value compared to a high 20s pick.

Calgary gets better in net and up front immediately.
Dear God no. Not for that price!!

It sucks but I believe he's not going to play again here at least.

You can't bank on him coming back

I get a similar feeling. A big jump in his game can also be attributed to the chemistry with Tanev. This contract is also coming to an end in a years time with already a risk that Tanev will slow down at some point...

I’m not sure about “never playing at this level again”. I will say I highly doubt he’s coming back this season. Think time has run out for him to be ready to play and contribute. As for the original question , who replaces hanafin ? The poster said Kylington. What ever the reason he has missed this much time , it’s something serious. Him coming back next year and having a set back is a real possibility. Not to mention he will have missed a year of hockey , when he was only really starting to develop. I wouldn’t pencil him in for an automatic top 4 role.

The impact this has on long term plans cannot be understated. Losing a 25 year top 4 defenseman for nothing would be a serious blow for the long term plans of any team.

Part of me wonders if the underlying cause for his absence is the reason he fell so far in the draft.

Would be funny if the Sens get more than the Canucks did last year

You mean rebuilding Ottawa not in the playoffs wouldn't want Lucic?

Melnyk’s daughters will bring him in the room for the final negotiations when they are selling the team. That stare may scare the buyers into throwing an extra 20 million on their offer. Only reason I can think of.
