I don't see that return and think of Lindholm. The prospects aren't top tier at all. Three picks are nice, but Blues also had to give up two players. Acciari is likely worth the 3rd on his own.

So really two draft picks. Lindholm far more valuable than that.

ROR has been hurt this season no? If he gets healthy this is a good deal for the Leafs. But I'm scared this is going to be Foligno Part Deux.

Exactly.

I like this trade for St. Louis well enough, ROR is past his prime and on an expiring contract. Neither of which describe Lindholm.

Really fun to see double cap retention in a trade. Cool to see teams take advantage and actually find ways to make room for trades.

What exactly does ROR do for Toronto? Not really the same player. But you do you T.O.

This is comparable to the Iginla/Bouwmeester returns

If you assume Acciari is worth either the 2nd or the 3rd (but not both) it is slightly better than the Iginla/JayBo trades by virtue of getting that second pick.

I guess Burke pulled a rabbit out of his hat getting a 2nd for Berra so there is that.

Iginla was a late first and nothing else.

These sorts of deals get done for players on expiring contracts. They don't happen with players who have term beyond the current season.

The Flames don't have anyone of value on an expiring contract, unless there's a team that wants to add Lucic's veteran presence for a run. If there is, the return for Lucic won't be anything special and you'll probably need to get a third team involved for cap retention too, making the Flames haul likely a late round pick.

Wow, that'd be a huge win for the Leafs if this was a few years ago

St Louis is terrible as a whole this year, I wouldn't read into O'Reillys individual performance

O'Reilly is younger than Kadri, it's not like he's a washed up vet

I'm far from a Leafs fan but I'd be happy with this move if I was them. The return is comparable to what the Flames got in return for Iginla and Bouwmeester and we all know how that turned out

Give me this guy in the playoffs anytime:

People are really asking what O'Reilly brings to the table?

Really?

It eases the defensive zone starts for their starters and getting ROR out there. Matthews / Tavares / ROR is a solid top 3 centers and should help them with their upcoming series vs. Tampa bay.

O'Reilly will be a 3rd line center that's one heck of a 1-2-3 punch. But the Leafs will still find a way to blow a series lead.

Based on Sportscentres 10 minute trade evaluation from Mark Masters and Craig Button the Leafs have already won the cup.

Samsonov is adequate in net but that D is pretty bad. They needed to upgrade that before getting O'Reilly.

Currently they are essentially tied for 4th in league pt%, so it looks likely that they'll be among the highest ranked teams when they inevitably lose in the first round, so the pick will probably be no higher than ~23rd.
