^ Yeah, if Lebrun said this I'd be concerned. Dreger? Not so much.

Agree. It's the part where i want Dreger to stop going back to this watering hole. I can't see Treliving going after that contract at this point.

If we trade Pelletier for Josh Anderson I'm done following this team for a couple seasons.
Trade Pelletier in a package for Timo Meier....sure
Trade Pelletier for Josh Anderson...fireable offense.
I'm not sure I believe it though, Dreger has been carrying water for the Habs on Anderson having actual positive value all season. That is a cap dump contract.

Anderson is grossly overpaid for what he brings, and his contract runs until 2027. MAYBE Sutter gets some consistency out of him, but it's just as likely he ends up on the 4th line fighting with Ruzicka and Lucic for icetime.
I'm only taking him if it's a cap dump going to Mtl or if they retain salary. Trading a legit NHL prospect for him is absolutely ludicrous, but hey. It's Darren Dreger. Might as well throw in a 1st.

what I really don't like is that the Flames are a team that can't score and yet they're rumoured to be in on all the grinders like Schenn and Anderson...

I think Dreger is being Hughes mouth piece. He has floated that rumour a couple times and the Habs turning down a 1st for Anderson. 50% retained and maybe Anderson is worth something. Coleman would have to go the other way if there is no retention and I'd rather keep Coleman.

Montreal would have to retain and/or pay to dump that contract. And Pelletier is only being named because he's French.
If they want, we could talk Huberdeau, even though I like him and think he's got good top level hockey in him still. Anderson and Caulfield for Huberdeau and Pelletier.

Getting Anderson doesn't bother me as much as it does some others (though its cost prohibitive at this point so I'm not worried) but giving up Pelletier? Not a fan of that at all. Not in that deal.

Caulfield is an American RFA. He's also gone for the year. That's the kicker that might move them.

Obviously pie in the sky thinking, and you'd still need to shed salary beyond moving Huberdeau to fit Anderson & Caufield at his new deal (likely starts with a 9) but man. To me, Caufield is the type of player you spend on. Big fan.

I keep hearing reports out of Montreal that they want high picks and prospects for Andersen and it is some of the most baffling speculation one can possibly read. This guy is entering Lucic/Clarkson level of contract. Honestly if we are trading Pelletier for him there needs to be a massive add from the Habs which to me is the Florida 1st rounder and our own 1st from Monahan back. I wouldn’t move Pelletier for him straight up at 50% retained.

This is who I want the Sabres to be in on, we need D help badly (as long as they can get him on with an extension too).

Buffalo will be a very interesting team to watch at the deadline. Not out of it, and probably pretty motivated to make the playoffs. Plus a ton of cap space and capital.

The Weegar talk (if true) is preposterous. What an incredibly bad look that would be organizationally.
Weegar is exactly who we thought he was - and that's an elite play driving defender. Unfortunately he has had some piss poor luck on an underperforming team as a whole - and quite frankly should probably be playing a ton more than he is.
Of Defensemen with 250+ minutes played this year, Weegar ranks.
1st among NHL defensemen in CF% (60.81%)
1st among NHL defensemen in SF% (62.535)
1st among NHL defensemen in SA/60 (21.23/60)
2nd among NHL defensemen in CA/60 (43.61/60)
11th among NHL defensemen in SF/60 (35.42/60)
12th among NHL defensemen in xGF% (57.54%)
12th among NHL defensemen in SCA/60 (23.42/60)
20th among NHL defensemen in SCF% (56.55%)
196th out of 217 eligible NHL defensemen in PDO (0.967 - ie, he's terribly unlucky)
And, no, these are not outliers. This is what he does.

Speaking of awful insiders, just a word of warning to take anything Gregor says with a giant grain of salt. He isn't breaking anything on Puljujarvi there, but still.
