"The level of joy of each Flames stomping is the equivalent of getting five free beers instead of one, which, oddly enough, is similar to the number of championships that each team has won to date."

Ahhh the last thing a Oilers fan ever says in an argument they have lost.
17 years ago for the last one now, starting to sound like Leaf fans.

The Thrashers can even laugh at the Oiler fans and their beaking.

"Did Edmonton boo last year when we were down two games to San Jose?" asks Boddy. "No way. We believed!"

Hmmm, the Sea of Red looked pretty good and was pretty noisey to me on Tuesday.
"In Edmonton, there is no bandwagon, but here in Calgary, it's epidemic."

Whatever they need to get them through the spring I guess...

What's funny is that the newb who signed up just to post this had to resort to the Off-Topic board.
An appropriate spot given the article's relevance.

Fair enough. I dont think i would consider the people stabbing each other and lighting things on fire last year "bandwagon fans". They were more "hoodlums" walking beside the bandwagon waiting for it to stop at a red light so they could pillage it. I can't deny a bandwagon in Calgary, though. Whatever, every city has idiots who get their voices heard because they work in the media. It doent make them any more right than the rest of us.

Sad that an apparently legitimate news paper would resort to publishing this kind of non-sense.
And Edmonton is the one that continues to claim Calgary has some sort of inferiority complex?

Laughable, and this is the proof.

 Pathetic really.

Whatever makes them feel better about losing Smyth, I guess.
I'm curious to know how printing "Flames shot down again" in the paper classifies as booing them, though.

I don't get it. I'm not going to read the article. But I would be saying the same if the roles were reversed and the herald wrote this article about the oilers/flames fans in edmonton. Why? Do they not realize that it makes you look a bit pathetic for lack of better words? Its like the few oiler umm agitators shall we say that pop up very occassionally on this board now.
Your team is not in the playoffs. Ours is. Trying to poke fun at the team/fans/city/etc of a team that is in the playoffs, when your team/fans/city/etc are out of the playoffs (especially when it wasn't exactly a "near miss" of getting in), well.......

I do believe that I recall the Oil getting booed out of their own stadium on more than a handful of occasions last season. I dont know what they have to be proud of about that.
There are a few truths in that article, I'm not going to lie to you, there are a few things I dont like, but that depends on the kind of fans you are surrounded by. I did like that the one girl who admitted that she gets bugged for being an Oil fan gets bothered in a very good natured way, the way Calgary/Edmonton always bug each other.

As for the class of publishing something like this that demosntrates the class of your fans, well misery loves company. I'm sure the Oilers will post up their golf scores on their website. Good luck signing UFAs in the offseason with an attitude like that.

 Locke.

Perhaps we should refer to the north version of a bandwagon as a band-paddy-wagon in honour of the stabbings and occurances of arson on the blue mile?
Even the truest and bluest oiler fan should ahve the sense to stay away from defending the point of this article. There is no defending the journal's stupidity. The petty jealousy in this article reminds me of my high school newspaper.

			What a whiney, crying piece.
Don't drag down our party because your team is one of the worst teams in hockey.

Don't be bitter because we're too busy enjoying the playoffs. and don't have time to shoot fireworks at girls.

Keep the bandwagon comments to yourself Edmonton, The Flames attendance never dropped to a stunning 72% of capacity during its lean playoff years.

Bring up the 5 cups, isn't that a generation ago? Who gives a crap, neither team has won a Stanley Cup in a long time, but unlike the Oilers we don't hang onto ours like a fuzzy security blanket.

Obviously this guy got his degree out of a cereal box, and then his favorite uncle got him a job at that rag, because as far as a story goes, he's just whining.

It'll be funnier over the summer as the Oilers continue to fall apart, and Lowe continues to fail his franchise.

Just because its name is Jacqueline dosen't mean the writers a girl. He's probably as confused as his writing style.
