Weegar would be an odd piece to move.
The offensive numbers aren't there but the underlying numbers are still elite.
Feel like selling now would be selling low.

That makes no sense on Weegar. What a weird rumor.

Trading Weegar seems pretty bizarre. He also believes the Flames have had talks regarding Parayko (yuck), being involved in Chychrun talks (although not a major player), and restates Boeser+Schenn interest.
None of this sounds appealing (outside of Chychrun, I suppose)

Depends what the offer is for Weegar. I trust Treliving when it comes to dealing players. I don’t think he has lost one yet

I am a HUGE Darryl Sutter fan but I don't think he is the coach that will take this team forward!
I think he should have called a timeout when the Sens scored a goal before tying it up to have the players reset but he didn't.
We need a coach that is progressive and use the abilities of the players you have on the team and develop a system to make it work. Unfortunately showing "tough love" to your players doesn't work anymore in today's NHL. I also think that we need to get new set of coaches to get a different perspective of the players and develop a system to maximize the talents of the players.
Is there a good time to replace him, I don't think there's a good time!
We are better on "paper" this year vs last year but we are underachieving.
We have new players that are new to the system, but they are pro's! Obviously the system is not working! I think we won't be able to attract calibre players in the future if we keep playing the "system " that doesn't work!

What a fundamental collapse that would be after negotiating with Weegar on an extension for so long.
And with an expiring GM at the end of the year, how much pull does he have even going into this trade deadline? You would think the only way Brad makes any big moves if if the ownership group has intent to extend him beyond this year, otherwise it would make more sense to let it be and let the new GM take over in the summer and evaluate then.
Fluttering team
GM uncertainty
Coach who's ownerships guy
So weird.

I just finished reading the 4th period piece and the Weegar news was pretty surprising but I definitely take everything from that publication with a huge grain of salt. They have posted a ton of Flames related rumors that were not true like the team trying to dump Gaudreau after the bubble to sign Taylor Hall.
I would consider Weegar to the Sens for their 23 1st and Zaitsev. Get a top 12 pick in the draft and not have Weegar on the books at $6.25M until he is 37. The use Zaitsev’s deal in a move to get Boeser.
Just for fun:
To Ottawa: Weegar
To Calgary: 23 1st + Zaitsev
To Calgary: Boeser + Schenn
To Vancouver: Zaitsev + 2nd + B prospect

David Pagnota is batting 0% with anything to do with the Flames. He is more of a basement blogger and the only real connections they have are tied to the La Kings.

Trading Weegar this soon is definitely strange. Debrincat or Batherson would really help the Flames out offensively. Maybe Kylington is coming back? Maybe the Flames are in on Chychrun, Kylington is coming back, and they are moving Weegar to recover/attain assets for the Chychrun deal? Maybe Weegar is too short to play on Sutter's D-line and they are moving him out and bringing in Paryako.

No thanks to boeser, don’t we have enough Canucks already? You don’t get better by adding Canucks

linking a piece of the Tkachuk trade with a team they just lost to after an epic collapse feels like an SEO goldmine fwiw.

I would honestly be pretty mad if Weegar goes. He’s done well for us, better than other guys on the team.

I agree. Weegar's deal is also just kinda...fair value going forward.

With the potential to look really good as the cap increases.
Honestly look at the step Zadorov took year 1 under Sutter to year 2.
If there is anything Sutter can do is it's making d-men better.
Don't sell on Weegar after 50 games.

As someone who just picked up a Weegar pedestal jersey to replace my tkachuk blasty and monahan jerseys, I am praying this doesn't happen..

I like Weegar but if you could pull Batherson or Debrincat out in a deal based around him I would do it.

I wonder if the Weegar talk is because of Hanifin. Perhaps they are wanting to do an extension with him? I don't think we can have both under long contracts.

I still think Weegar is a better option. His deal moving forward is at least fair, especially with the cap going up. RHD is much harder to find as well.

I would rather keep Hanafin than Weegar if it came to one or the other. I have no issues moving Weegar for assets. This team badly needs a top line winger. IMO everyone on the roster should be available over the summer as I don't see any keepers if the offers are there for any player.

Yeah that's a tough one.
Who's got the better trade value?
What would Hanifin's long term value be?
Who's actually better money aside?
Hanifin is younger so that's the big advantage.
Weegar is a RS dman which is usually coveted.

From everything I've been hearing, the number 1 thing the flames need to do is move on from Sutter
