How do the Flames afford a $6.65M contract for next season in Boeser? They will definitely need to sell off someone with one year left on their deal at the draft likely for straight picks so maybe that is not a bad thing?

Yeah they should be shedding cap and not adding another underachieving 6+ million player.

Flames aren't entirely shy to make mid season big trades as well. 09-10 we traded away Dion Phaneuf and Toronto traded away their top two scorers at that time too (Stajan and Hagman).

Sheesh...fantasy but if something like that happened, how exciting would that be?

Acquiring Boeser while having Toffoli seems a bit redundant. He seems to fill a similar role but costs way more and produces less.

I don't hate the player but I don't see the fit.

I don’t know about you guys, but I’m honestly done with the Flames acquiring former Canucks

Personally I actually like Boeser and Schenn. Especially if the combined trade doesn't cost a 1st or one of our top prospects.

But if it costs a 1st or a top prospect (specifically one of Zary, Coronato or Pelts) then I am not for it.

Yea do we really need to remake the 2020 Canucks playoff squad?

Trading for players from a losing culture usually works out real well.

The only way Boeser is worth anything is if he 50% retained

Or an unsavoury contract is included in the deal. I think it's a buy low situation for sure. But Boeser's not old. As others have pointed out, he's pretty much the same player as Toffoli. Toffoli also had some really mediocre years in the mid stretch where he was unfocused in LA. Then when he went to MTL he exploded back into offensive form. IMO Boeser probably has a similar curve in him.

He could be a great buy low candidate. Played 71 games last year, missed 6 games this year. Health is his only issue. If he can stay healthy, he could trend up quickly.

Toffoli took a lot of heat here all summer and at the start if this season. He leads the team in scoring now.

Lucic and a non first pick for Boesser. Worry about the cap in the summer.

2 years left on his deal, if he trends upwards, he's easily worth $6.65 mil.

Insider trading:
https://www.tsn.ca/video/~2628744

Meier's agent still hasn't been given permission to talk with teams about an extension
NJ would want an extension in place before trading for Meier
Canes are okay with not talking about an extension before trading for Meier
Leafs also interested

Kane and Toews not expected to make decision about whether they will waive their NMC until next week

Oilers will continue to keep tabs on Karlsson
But in the mean time will try on others
If they can move Puljujarvi, Gavrikov's cap hit makes sense for the Oilers.

Price remains high on Gavrikov
Asking for a 1st, 3rd, and 4th
Gavrikov does not seem inclined to want to talk about an extension at this time
Probably wants to test free agency this summer

Kravtsov, Vitali
To NYR
2024 3rd round pick (CGY)

To CGY
Gurianov, Denis
2024 3rd round pick (DAL)
2025 3rd round pick (DAL)
To DAL
Toffoli, Tyler

To CGY
2025 4th round pick (BOS)
To BOS
Lucic, Milan ($2,625,000 retained)

To CGY
Quinn, Jack
2023 2nd round pick (VGK)
2024 1st round pick (BUF)
To BUF
Lindholm, Elias

To CGY
Puljujärvi, Jesse
To EDM
2025 3rd round pick (CGY)

Huberdeau - Dube - Pelletier (Is Dube comparable to Bennett? Pelletier speed comparable to Duclair?)
Gurianov - Kadri - Puljujarvi (Gurianov has potential to be Nichushkin? Kadri and Nichushkin were great in Colorado)
Mangiapane - Backlund - Kravtsov (Most guys play well with Backlund)
Coleman - Ruzicka/Lewis - Quinn

So just to recap,

IN: Kravtsov, Gurianov, Quinn, Puljujarvi, 2024 3rd round pick (DAL), 2025 3rd round pick (DAL), 2025 4th round pick (BOS), 2023 2nd round pick (VGK), 2024 1st round pick (BUF)

OUT: Toffoli, Lindholm, Lucic, 2024 3rd round pick (CGY), 2025 3rd round pick (CGY)

We get bigger, faster, younger, and cap compliant for next season with a some picks put back into the cupboard.

How much worse can we be?

We would certainly find out.

Lucic trade is fine. We could get more for Lindholm and Toffoli.

Yeah. Let's leave Boeser alone... but if we get Schenn we don't have to look at his as an ex-Canuck. We can view him as an ex-Leaf!

That trade blows. Toffoli for three thirds. The other ones are decent. Doubt Buffalo fans would like the Lindholm one though

Don't know what Lindys appetite would be for a re tool but I'd prefer him to finish a Flame.
