Man at times it seems like Stamps bring in all the talent in the league and get raided.

If we kept 75% of the guys this team is slapping the Bombers around.

Stamps remind me of the Packers back in the Favre/ early Rodgers era. they have a contending team but really have an issue signing free agents which could put you over the top. this has been a very underwhelming off season. i have faith in Hufnagel/DD but i am not sure what there plan is

same as every year. Let high priced free agents walk and replace with draft picks and americans on neg list.

Hufnagel had a good strategy going in a capped, small time league in unearthing talent and then finding new talent when the time comes to pay a lot for them. But I feel maybe he swayed too far towards letting too many proven talents go when we could still easily be contending.

And now Dickenson seems to be taking even a step further. I know the Flames are cap spenders with the Flames, but they run that group like a business, which is why every non Flames team has struggled with attendance. I honestly believe that they have tied the Stamps spending ability to dwindling attendance.

Whether that means not spending to the cap or not going over it as other teams have (as many speculate) I strongly believe the Stamps aren't fully spending these days due to the dire situation with the CFL.

I also think other teams are spending over the cap like the Argos perennially, Bombers and now Ti-Cats this season while the Stamps continue to spend below the salary cap ceiling.

I remember when we interviewed Huff for the Horsemen podcast and we talked about his strategy for negotiating deals. He was very much a hardliner when it came to keeping to the Cap. He always had a players value in mind money wise and stuck to it.

He was also supremely confident in the Stamps ability to find talent and replacements in their scouting system.

I doubt as long as Huf is still part of the organization and Dave will have been trained to have the same mindset that this team will go over the cap.

The Saskatchewan Roughriders have signed American quarterback Shea Patterson, the team announced on Monday.

The six-foot-one, 212-pound passer signed his first CFL contract with the B.C. Lions in June 2021 but was released three months later when the team signed former NFL quarterback Danny Etling. Patterson joined the Montreal Alouettes the following week and recorded 13 carries for 23 yards over five games in a depth role behind veteran passers Vernon Adams Jr. and Trevor Harris.

The Lions (and the CFL for that matter) are fortunate to have Amar Doman as an owner, he is truly committed to making the Lions a contender and is willing to put his money where his mouth is.

Well, with the Riders signing Micah Johnson earlier today, that likely rules them out to bringing back Sankey.

Mario Cecchini is back in charge of the Montreal Alouettes as he was appointed the interim president of the club on Tuesday morning by the CFL, which has taken ownership of the team on an interim basis.

Cecchini, who served as the team’s president this past year, will lead the management of the organization’s day-to-day business operations under the direction and supervision of the league office. The longtime Quebec media executive was hired as the team’s president in January 2020 after the team was purchased by S and S Sportsco, a corporate entity owned by steel magnate Sid Spiegel and son-in-law Gary Stern.

10:21 a.m. ET — 3DownNation reporter Justin Dunk has dropped a doozy: the Edmonton Elks will make Eugene Lewis the highest-paid non-quarterback in the CFL on a two-year contract. Once signed, the star receiver will make $320,000 in 2023.

By the way, this page can be refreshed to see free agency updates:

wow, seems like a few years ago the Als were under a bit of a fan revival - but maybe it was more years than i think.

i love the CFL - my son has little more than a passing interest in football, much less teh CFL. Going to games with my dad is a huge part of my teen and early adult years. makes me sad to think I am likely not the only CFL fan with kids who have little to no interest in the league

Is there an article explaining how the these teams are going over the cap? I didn't know about this and I'd like to know more.
