Worked for a company recently that refinished cabinets and other interior millwork in some of the more upscale parts of town and the Q follower nutcase foreman we had found more than a few fellow travelers to banter about it with among that set. Again, anecdotal and all but it seems like this isn't an x class or y profession. It's everywhere.

They somehow navigated the waters. But basically choosing between being removed from his work place and the crazy BS his wife got into, tough place to be sitting.

Sounds like he should divorce his wife.

Anecdotal as well...

I went to the lab the other day to get some bloodwork done and everyone was wearing masks, because it's still required in a healthcare setting for obvious reasons. There was about 30 or so of us in the waiting room. A woman in her 40's came in and refused to wear a mask, and she made a big scene of it and got into it with the workers at the lab. She kept telling the rest of us in the waiting room tom "be strong" and stand up for our rights. Anyways, her actions inspired 3 other people to take their own masks off in the waiting room. These 3 people then carried on a long conversation about the "plandemic", "rights", Trudeau, WEF, etc. It was gross to watch and I felt awful for the workers who had to deal with this BS.

Also, there are still plenty of vehicles around me with the Convoy "swag" on their vehicles. (Canadian flags on hockey sticks, F Trudeau stickers/flags, "Member of a small fringe minority" stickers, etc.)

2021: The children who did not come home from residential schools

2019: Jody Wilson-Raybould, politician

2018: Humboldt Broncos hockey team

2017: Gord Downie, musician

2016: Gord Downie, musician

2014: Warrant Officer Patrice Vincent and Cpl. Nathan Cirillo, slain soldiers

2013: Rob Ford, politician

2012: Luka Rocco Magnotta, killer

2010: Russell Williams, sex killer

The recent picks on the list seem to focus on tragedies or wrongs in our society. So, the Convoy is right up there with serial killers, a crack smoking mayor, the death of a beloved Canadian icon, the tragic death of a hockey team, a scandal for the PM, terrorist acts that involved the deaths of Canadian soldiers and the tragedy of residential schools.

So yeah, the Convoy was a tragedy for Canadian society. Great insight Yoho! You continue to marvel us with your wisdom. lol

It should go without saying that just because something is 'news making' doesn't mean it was positive for society.

Are you trying to say 1938, 1939 and 1942 Time "Persons of the Year" weren't the best people? |

I would argue that leadership changes in both the CPC and UCP were accelerated by the convoy/blockades and the Reform/Wildrose wings of each party. The replacements have moved each party farther to the right and deeper into conspiracies, populism, and freedumb libertarianism. Key ingredients of the convoy.

The shift is a global phenomenon, of course, and things were trending in that direction since each party "unified" the right. But I think that the pandemic culminating in the convoy/blockades signals the point where the CPC and UCP went from trying to contain the fringe as useful idiots, to both parties being consumed by it.
