That Hurts fumble for a TD prevented this game from being a blow out. At least it made it entertaining.

At that point, the touchdown wasn’t the better result because it was 3rd down and, without the penalty, the Chiefs would have kicked a field goal and given the ball back to the Eagles with decent time left on the clock.
Once the penalty happened and there was no way to stop the clock after the Eagles used their final timeout, the Eagles needed to give up the TD.

Great game. Was fun to be cheering for the Chiefs.
Eagles looked like the better team in the first half and did a great job keeping Mahomes off the field. But Reid and the Cheifs must have made some adjustments because they just looked dominant in the second half.
Going to miss football until September.

That's the point. Eagles would have been better off giving up a touchdown on that play than a five yard penalty that effectively ended the game.

And the officials robbed the Chiefs of an obvious fumble return TD that would have made the finishing controversy irrelevant anyway. Period, full stop, end of sentence.
Good game, Eagles D choked, and Mahomes is a warrior.

No to the bolded.
You went one period, full stop, end of sentence too far.

Patrick Mahomes lived in Edmonton for a time when his dad played for the Trappers in the Montreal Expos system.

The Chiefs actually had an insanely efficient game on offense, they ran 53 plays and got a first down or touchdown on 25 on them, and it becomes 25/51 if you take out the kneel downs at the end. Eagles had a great game on third/fourth down (13/20), but the Chiefs only even had seven meaningful third down attempts which shows you how easy it was for them to move the ball. Already mention the Chiefs OLine played a phenomenal game, but Andy, in the second half especially, was dialing up a nearly flawless game of play calls. He was already a HOF coach, and now he'll enter that top five or so conversation ever.
And I mentioned this earlier in the thread, but for the Chiefs this year might be their low end for the next few years. Dumping Tyreek, picking up draft capital and getting the cap to a good place really sets them up well for the next few years. AFC is definitely going to continue to be a tough conference to win, but they are so well run that they could definitely end up as the new Patriots. I also don't think Mahomes needs seven rings to end up as the greatest, he has the aesthetic and technical edge so if he got to four or five, with a bunch of the records, I think he'll get the crown.

As long as Reid keeps coaching the Chiefs will be a perennial contender. Once again he reminded the league why he's the best offensive mind in the history of the league. Those two uncontested TD passes in the 2nd half illustrate the advantage the Chiefs have over the rest of the league.
Eagles have to feel disappointed in this loss as they had a near (that fumble is probably the turning point in the game unfortunately for them) perfect first half but their defense just couldn't get it done when it mattered.

Fair or not he lost head to head with Brady twice in critical games. I think the Mahomes goat case will always be tough to make because of that. He needs the rings.
The gap between 2 and 5 and 5 and 7 is so huge that this is premature

Two years in a row the refs helped decide the Superbowl winner. In close games like that I wish they put the flags away unless its blatant. You can call that type of hold on almost every play.
It's like in hockey, you can call hooking or slashing on every play. But the refs pick and choose when to call it. Which is annoying in itself.

How much did the terrible field prevent anything resembling a pass rush on this game
The QBs were under almost no pressure all game
I imagine it’s hard the get a rush going if you can’t push off that first step

I can't believe some people in the NFL thought it was a good idea to put all that paint down in the middle of the field on both sides. I hope this never happens again as that's just bad.

I don't know. If you are a DB and you grab jersey you put the game in the hands of the officials. I was hoping for an Eagles win but that's a penalty.

They've painted those same parts of the field in years past though. What made this year so much different? They kept mentioning it's a different type of grass they were trying. Seems dumb to try it for the first time for the Super Bowl unless it was used earlier this season.

Did either QB even get tackled hard in the game (on a passing play)?
No sacks by the Eagles, and I don’t remember Mahomes getting hit at all.
The first sack by the Cheifs was when Hurts ran out of bounds a half yard behind the LOS, without being hit at all. The game stats say there was a second sack, but I don’t remember what it was.

Yeah I heard the announcers say that people weren't happy with the turf this year overall, but I dunno.. plus they're using this 'roll in an entire field' type technology at the stadium:

I don't think it was the paint, I believe it was the type of turf they used. Players said the turf in Phoenix has been a problem before.
