He played in the second round last year.

Yep. Forgot about that.
Regardless, Huberdeau still has more to ‘prove’ and I’m sure Huberdeau himself would agree. Flame On’s argument that Huberdeau is proven while Treliving isn’t is a head scratcher on more than one level.

HNIC:
Marek says Oilers and Leafs are not in on Chychrun
Kings throwing cold water on it but it might be because it is Dustin Brown night
No guarantee that Chychrun gets moved tonight
Oilers need Sharks to eat $4.5 to $5 million for next 4 seasons of Karlsson's contract to make it work.
Unknown if Sharks are willing to do that
Also question if Karlsson is willing to go to Edmonton.
If Oilers can't make Karlsson work Friedman wonders if they look to Gostibehere
Puljujarvi could go on waivers on Tuesday unless he is traded before then.
Sens have a path for a Zaitsev trade (most likely to west coast Friedman thinks)
Sens have indicated they will not move DeBrincat
Austin Watson is available
Trade talk heating up on Schenn
Friedman thinks Schenn being held out because teams are wanting to put the trade on the frontburner
Calgary and Boston have looked at it
Boeser might have to wait until Meier is dealt.
Teams missing out on Meier likely move on to Boeser
Bertuzzi - Dallas looking for someone to play with Seguin
Ask is substantial
Oilers and TB interested at well
JVR - Jets, Wild, and VGK looking at him
Kravtsov healthy scratched. has been made available

Okay Tree, snag Chychrun and then snag Kravstov or Puljujarvi. That's the type of stuff I'm expecting the Flames to be looking at. Eyes towards next year with using these games to maybe get a Playoff spot but try some fresh bodies out as well.

Chychrun makes sense. Impact player. (Although still not “for” this team doubling down)
Schenn would be a stupid acquisition.
Acquiring Chychrun also helps this team age-wise.
All of a sudden your back end is:
Andersson (26)
Hanifin (26)
Chychrun (24)
Weegar (29)
Tanev (33)
Zadorov (27)

If poolparty goes on waivers, I would LOVE for the Flames to get him.

Kravtsov is available eh?
Not sure how I feel about pushing all in just yet; the next 5 games have 4 against bottom dwellers and a rematch against NYR, if we go 4-1 or 5-0 I’d be comfortable with this team making a splash but they’ve been Jekyll and Hyde all year.

Warming up to Chychrun because he qualifies as a future piece, and could help our PP situation
I think it would be a savvy pickup. If we're looking at a 14-16 overall pick this year, Chychrun is a surer thing than that player is likely to be.
I'd even contemplate Hanifin + spare parts as the package. He's likely gone soon anyhow. Chychrun gives them a different look and is here for the long haul
Paying to upgrade from a #2/3 type d-man to a long term #1 solution feels worth it

Treliving on record saying we need a F. Then goes and adds a D. Sounds about right. And for a player where our first will need to be in play.
Scoring problems all season and we go get a D. Par for the course with this management team. All the focus on D (despite having a solid top 4) when the real problem is putting the puck in the net.
Hope this doesn’t come to pass but wouldn’t be surprised. A capped out team in need of good young talent trades their first in a win now save your job move. SMH

It’s almost guaranteed that if Puljujarvi goes on waivers, he won’t make it to us. Some other team will scoop him.

Some forest through the trees vision is required.
After next season the Flames will have only Andersson and Weegar signed. Flames have no prospects on the horizon coming up in that time frame to fill in. There's an opportunity to acquire a 24 year old top pairing D man to fill that hole long term.
I think there's value in that if they are moving futures.

Spectre claiming Oilers have a deal in the works? (take with grain of salt, its the oilers)
According to Sportsnet’s Mark Spector, he believes the Edmonton Oilers and Chicago Blackhawks have the pieces worked out and a trade in the chamber that would see the Oilers land Patrick Kane in a blockbuster deal:
"My sources tell me the Blackhawks would retain half of Kane’s $10.5 million salary, take Warren Foegele and Jesse Puljujarvi to make the money work, and require a first-round pick and a prospect — not Holloway or Broberg — in return

Yeah I don’t want to play Dallas as it is, even without Kane.

It was some random dude on Twitter saying it was going down. Not sure on legitimacy so take it as a rumour. I also am an old man so don’t know how to imbed tweets on here.
Look up @wallmaz35. Says it’s a 1st and Stankoven for Kane.
