It looks like one I tried but a little shorter from the pic with the brush in it. I was not able to hit the puck and swirl the brush very effectively, maybe it was to deep? Might have to try a shorter one

Electric or bladed?
This was mentioned before which seems pretty nifty.

Bladed, I don't think you can go wrong with any of the Rockwell, Merkur or Henson options previously mentioned. You just might have to tinker with the different blade brands to ensure the maximum comfort.

Now I feel comfortable leaving the Dorco behind. No guesswork with the shaving angle since the head does it for you, much lighter than the Supply which I like, and you can use whatever blades you want. First shave was smooth, didn't have any cuts or missed patches, and biggest of all no razor burn afterward. Wish I had gotten this one first, the Supply is just going to be collecting dust in a cabinet now

That looks amazing...I wish they made something in a straight-razor...

Yes that one. Works fine. Pucks work fine. If you don't have a badger brush I find other brush materials don't work that well.

I typically trim instead of shave body hair. So I'm mostly interested in whatever prevents nicks in the down there area.

I use the manscaped lawnmower and have no complaints. No nicks in the 3 years I've owned it.

All I can get

If you can find yourself a vintage Old Spice shaving mug, they're just the right size for either cream or pucks of soap. I found mine a few years ago on eBay.
Also, premium brands such as Mitchell's Woolfat, and Tabac come in their own ceramic bowls. You can purchase refills for them (or use another brand).

I just bought a sampler pack of blades to try to see if I could find a better combo. The included Henson blades were good, I'd probably rate them a 8/10, but I just tried a Feather blade in the razer and that's easily a 10/10. That was by far the closest and smoothest shave I've ever had, now I see why some guys rave about DE razors. I've also started using an alum block after shaving which helps a lot on my very sensitive neck, but with the Henson blades there was a significant stinging sensation for the first few seconds after using the alum. After shaving with the Feather blades though I didn't feel a thing, just very smooth skin
Now my only worry is that I've still got so many other blades in the pack to go through, but if none of them can compare to the feather I'll probably just toss the lot and buy a 100 pack of those

Also thanks for being the Guinea pig. I’ve been meaning to move from Mach 3 to a safety razor for the longest time and your reviews and testing have helped a lot. Once my cartridges run out I’m gonna buy a Henson.

Feather, Astra, Gillette, and Kai were the highest rated blades I found depending on personal preference. You can also find 100 packs of Feather on Amazon for cheap

If you found your dream combo, don't toss the extra blades. Just keep them and offer them to the next person you convert to DE safety razor. Others don't really care that they can try other stuff as "they're not picky". Also, I bought those $15 ones that show up at Winners or on Amazon and whatnot. I tested those out, figured out the pros and cons, and gifted or lent those to friends who were on the fence about whether they wanted to convert, so the blades went in that direction when I did that. My dad still keeps saying all the combinations are all "just OK". He used all the blade combos and the $15 cheapo, 6C, and T1. I don't know how to help the guy find his "eureka!" combo.
One of my buddies that I "converted", he was more than happy to use the Rockwell ones that I did not prefer. To him, it was better than what he was using before and he didn't need to experiment any more. I was super happy to unload something like 120 of those blades to him and he was super happy to get into DE safety razor for free because he had found two of his grandfather's old razors and had started that way out of curiosity when he saw me using mine.
After looking more into the Henson, it does seem like it was designed to be able to be more haphazardly used with low risk of cutting yourself based on the reviews out there. It does seem like you should be able to use it like a disposable. Maybe that will be one I grab for the wife in the future if she tires of the 6C. I haven't found any specs yet (or maybe I'm blind), but it seems the Henson is longer than the Rockwell offerings. It does sound like it's a legit contender for a DE safety razor that some of us or our spouses might enjoy using. Seriously, after seeing the difference of disposable vs DE safety razor, my wife had no problem jumping into learning how to use a DE safety razor to replace the other stuff she had been using. Plus the color combos for the Henson are amazing.
I bought the Merkur Futur as mentioned previously and I've been testing it in comparison to the Rockwell 6S and T1 on occasion over the last few weeks. It is kinda slippery with really dry hands since grip isn't machined in, but there's a notch that balances nicely when you shave and the razor doesn't really move or slide. Damp hands and/or using the alum block on the fingers does make it seem like your hands are grippier and less likely to slip or slide. The Futur is quite a bit heavier than the Rockwell 6S or T1, and on the 1-6 slider, level 1 seems to be about 1.5 to 2 on the Rockwell. The spring loaded top that pops off to allow you to load the blade is kinda odd, but you get used to it. I'd rate this razor a borderline moderate at the lowest settings. I can see why some like it for the weight. The Futur is longer than the 6S and the T1 Rockwells by a little bit and those two are longer than the 6C. IMO, if there was a grip machined into the handle, it'd be even better, but this is still a damn good razor at a good price. However, I wouldn't choose this razor for taking with me when traveling.
I still need to sit down and do some research on covers for the razors. I wouldn't toss them into a toiletry bag on their own for fear of damaging other stuff while traveling. I have one leather cover that came with the Rockwells. I just need 3-5 more for my other razors and the adjustable ones have larger heads than non-adjustable/plates.

I actually kept my Dorco razor and a box of unopened blades to use as a travel razor. I've lost a few regular razors in hotels by being absent minded, wouldn't want that to happen with the expensive Henson

I just got my Henson AL13. Looking forward to using it, I canceled my DSC sub this morning with about 40 cartridges in reserve. A good call to use them for travel. I bought that sampler pack suggested above. I need to find a good shaving regime I have been a shaving Luddite for so long.

Didn't you say the Dorco kinda sucked and tore up your neck? Or was that a different one? It doesn't seem like it would make sense to keep something that is not enjoyable, especially if you might be able to unlock some value from what is collecting dust right now to acquire something that works better for the same or less money.
Any chance you can still sell it for $10-30 and buy something like the below for a travel one?
Basic butterfly with leather sheath $20-25; slightly longer and better quality than the $15 ones at Winners...
https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B06...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
or grab the $8-15 at Winners on clearance or full price (may not have a sheath or case or may have a crushed box). I'd especially keep an eye out just after father's day and they're great things to lend to others if they want to dabble. The main complaint of cheap DE safety razors is that they're shorter, thinner, lighter and less durable. All bigger issues if you want to use it daily, but not really an issue if you're just using it occasionally for short periods of time.
Merkur futur clone w/ stand $30 (no sheath), but a cheap $1-2 soft pencil case from Dollarama or wherever should work well.
https://www.amazon.ca/Premium-Qualit...s%2C144&sr=8-3
The main downside of a DE safety razor when traveling is if you decide to travel carry on only because you can't bring razor blades with you. But a cartridge or electric "back up" would be OK in your carry on.

I'm guessing if you contact Hemi, he might not be opposed to selling you the remainder of his sample pack and perhaps include a single feather blade for cheap. That way he doesn't have $20 of blades collecting dust, he can use what he gets from you for a 50-100 pack of blades he wants and you can save money on samplers and cancel the one you ordered since most of that sampler likely might end up collecting dust as well.
