Someone posted about a deal between the government and Domtar that is not public. Sounds super shady but would kind of explain it. Not sure how you would keep that quiet though.

Not really an apples to apples case. The land could have been sold to the city with the caveat that liability for remediation goes with it. If that were to happen I imagine the city had a good handle on the rem/rec costs.
I believe at lynview contamination wasn’t known when the housing development went on.

I'm kind of skeptical of Danielle's ability to push this through even if she wanted to. More likely she wants to make noise about it and use it as a wedge to draw in a few extra voters in battleground Calgary. And so far we're all talking about it so... mission accomplished?
Please please please don't vote Danielle Smith in just so we can give more money to Murray Edwards for an arena.

I never understand people who belittle teachers. You're also an a-hole for belittling janitors, who probably work harder than you, but teachers definitely do. And a fair few of them are most certainly smarter than you.
But on the face why I hate this argument the most is that it's totally intellectually stupid. So, you would trust someone to hang around and mentor your kid for the majority of your child's waking life, yet you would also put that same person in the lowest tier of society and treat them like they're deplorables? The same people you trust with your kid?
####ing idiotic.

Do you think you're being funny by intentionally misspelling Jyoti Gondek's name? Schticks like this and continuously misrepresenting what the City of Calgary has done on this project vs what CSEC has done makes you sound like a moron.
Grow up.

Not belittling teachers as teachers. As people who run a business they should have no say. I will trust people who have run a business for 20-30 years and understand the ins and outs of profit/loss and government regulations. Also from seeing where Canada's rankings are going in regards to STEM maybe we need to refocus the curriculum.

I don't live in Alberta so can someone please explain why this is a thing? Did the Oilers pay for their arena outright and the Flames are begging the city and province for help?

The OEG ended up paying very little, after accounting for the rent that the city is paying to OEG for office space that was part of the deal.
The city paid for a chunk of it with provincial MSI money, money that’s intend led to pay for city infrastructure, not be given to private business.
The province did not give any money directly.
