As far as games to give markstrom, this might not be the worst scenario

Playing him against weak opponents has also resulted in the team crapping the bed in front of him

Fact remains Vladar can't play every game and neither of them have great goalie numbers. Flames are scoring one more goal per game with Vladar in net for whatever reason it's not like he is stealing games. Vladar has been average and Markstrom below average.

Sure so why didn't he play the back to back when the Flames had 9 days off after that? and why isn't he starting tonight?

Bottom line is both guys will need to play well if they are gonna make it.

Yes it would be great to have both goalies rolling, but this is a pretty middling team in a lot of areas. Besides the PK ranking 5th it doesn't look like an elite team anywhere. The powerplay in particular needs to be much, much better. It's been horrible, and a momentum killer in many games. A lot of areas need to improve to make the playoffs.

Sutter should be severely criticized for the PP this season. Not because of him not starting rookies. not even starting goalies some of the times.

But if you keep with this pp unit how can that not be fireable?

GA has a lot to do with goaltending...they are 4th I'm HD chances allowed

I think the point still stands. Goaltending is part of the team and to date this team is middling at best, especially the goaltending. I also agree with you that if goaltending improves, then this team becomes much less middling. Goaltenders can cover up a lot of warts on a team.

I don't think the personnel on each unit is necessarily the problem. I think their positioning (in accordance with their abilities and LH/RH shots) and the overall system/approach is what needs serious work, and looks to have been given the square peg-round hole treatment all season long
